Future of IRC Channel:
- IRC channel does not have many users (~14) with minimal discussion, which typically only points to Slack.
- Should we maintain IRC as a communication channel when basically no one on the core team uses it and it does look unmaintained?
- Result: LT will ask the last core team member who is active on the channel if they want to take over complete maintainership. Discussion will continue next meeting.
ZeekWeek update:
- Dates for 2021 are locked in and will be publicly announced in the near future.
- Live streaming: depending on the development of covid, we are considering making Zeek Week 2021 a hybrid in-person/virtual event. We will monitor the situation and discuss the viability and challenges of doing this more in future meetings.
- More space for sponsorships available than at Zeek Week 2019.
- Event will have more space than any previous physical event with a main ballroom and five breakout rooms.
H2 - 3rd QTR Zeek Community Goals:
- Book of Zeek is progressing (driven by Richard Bejtlich).
- As discussed before, we plan to use coverkit to send out emails to new interested people using Zeek, to help them to get to know the platform.
- We will have to write content for it, starting with three different personas at the beginning (user, script-writer, contributor to core).
- The emails will probably just be short snippets - at most a few paragraphs. Mission, vision & values: we should have a place that documents this. A document should detail what Zeek and the Project represents.
- Europe: at first webinars in the European timezone in Q1 2021, to judge demand. These will be in addition to the other webinar in the US-centric timezone.
- Webinars will be renamed to just webinars - the old name did not really receive positive feedback.
- zeekweek.org/zeekweek.com will be repointed to a page on zeek.org.
Zeek.org domain transition to our own gsuite:
- We need to set up a different gsuite first and can then transfer zeek.org over to it.
