Streamer v1.3 ⚡: Complete RabbitMQ & AMQP 0-9-1 Management Suite

Streamer v1.3 introduces first-class support for RabbitMQ and AMQP 0-9-1, joining the existing Apache Kafka, Redpanda, NATS/JetStream, and Amazon SQS suites. Built with 100% Pure Go (amqp091-go and rabbit-hole/v3), Streamer delivers a high-performance, developer-centric desktop GUI for modern distributed messaging systems without any native C-library dependencies.

🐇 What's New in v1.3

1. Unified Connection Management for RabbitMQ

  • Protocol Integration: Connect seamlessly to any RabbitMQ instance or cluster with the dedicated rabbitmq protocol.
  • AMQP & AMQPS URI Support: Connect using standard amqp:// and encrypted amqps:// endpoints with custom ports, virtual hosts, and credentials.
  • Enterprise Security & TLS: Full TLS/SSL configuration options, including custom CA Certificate authority files, Client Certificate & Key pairs, and TLS Insecure Skip Verify.
  • Auto-Derived & Explicit Management Endpoints: Automatically infers the RabbitMQ Management HTTP endpoint (port 15672 or 15671 for HTTPS) from AMQP host details, or supports custom cluster management URLs.
  • Non-Intrusive Telemetry: Real-time heartbeat monitoring and lightweight HTTP RTT latency sampling.

2. RabbitMQ Overview Dashboard

  • Cluster Diagnostics: Real-time inspection of Cluster Name, RabbitMQ Version, Erlang/OTP Version, Uptime, Node Count, Disk Free space, Memory utilization, and File Descriptor metrics.
  • Message Rate Gauges: Live visual counters and throughput gauges for Publish Rate, Deliver/Get Rate, Acknowledge Rate, and Redeliver Rate with automatic periodic refresh.
  • Virtual Host Explorer: Segregated overview of queues, exchanges, and permissions partitioned cleanly per virtual host.

3. Queue Studio

  • Comprehensive Queue Creation: Declare Classic, Quorum, and Stream queues with full argument customization (TTL, Max Length, Message Overflow, Max In-Memory Length).
  • Dead Letter Routing: Built-in support for Dead Letter Exchange (x-dead-letter-exchange) and Dead Letter Routing Key (x-dead-letter-routing-key).
  • Deep Queue Inspection: Inspect active consumer details (Channel PID, Consumer Tag, QoS Prefetch, Ack Requirement), queue bindings, and ready vs. unacknowledged message counts.
  • Queue Maintenance: Single-click queue purge and safe queue deletion.

4. Exchange Studio & Topology

  • Exchange Type Support: Create Direct, Fanout, Topic, and Headers exchanges with durability, auto-delete, internal flag, and alternate exchange routing.
  • Interactive Binding Matrix: Easily declare and unbind queue-to-exchange and exchange-to-exchange bindings with custom routing keys and header arguments.
  • Detailed Exchange Drawer: View all inbound and outbound bindings with real-time statistics.

5. Messages Studio & Inspector

  • Safe Peek Mode (Non-Destructive): Inspect top-of-queue messages via the RabbitMQ Management HTTP API (POST /api/queues/%2F/{queue}/get with ack_requeue_true) or batched pure AMQP Basic.Get fallback. Safely previews messages without reordering the queue, modifying visibility, or triggering redelivery loops.
  • Live Push Consumer Streaming: High-throughput asynchronous message stream powered by AMQP Basic.Consume. Features configurable QoS prefetch counts, auto-ack toggle, in-flight message deduplication, and graceful broker-side subscription cancellation on stop.
  • Message Inspector Drawer: Deep payload inspection supporting JSON pretty-printing with syntax highlighting, raw text view, and hexadecimal byte inspection. Inspect message headers, delivery mode (persistent/transient), routing keys, exchange origin, and correlation IDs.
  • Interactive Message Publisher: Send messages with publisher confirms, custom routing keys, exchanges, persistent delivery modes, headers, and expiration.

6. Dead Letter Queue (DLQ) Redrive

  • Automated DLX Routing: Easily inspect dead-lettered messages and re-publish them back to their source queue or designated retry exchanges with configurable batch limits and real-time progress feedback.

7. Embedded Model Context Protocol (MCP) Server

Streamer's local MCP server now exposes 9 new RabbitMQ actions to AI coding assistants (Claude Desktop, Cursor, Antigravity):

  • rabbitmq_list_vhosts: Discover available virtual hosts.
  • rabbitmq_list_queues: List queues with message counts and metrics.
  • rabbitmq_get_queue: Inspect detailed queue attributes, consumer lists, and bindings.
  • rabbitmq_list_exchanges: List declared exchanges.
  • rabbitmq_get_exchange: Inspect exchange configuration and bindings.
  • rabbitmq_list_bindings: Discover topology bindings for queues and exchanges.
  • rabbitmq_peek_messages: Non-destructively peek queue messages.
  • rabbitmq_publish_message: Publish messages to exchanges with routing keys and headers.
  • rabbitmq_redrive_dlq: Redrive dead-lettered messages back to source queues.
  • Strict Safety Guarantee: Read-only safety toggle restricts mutations; queue delete/purge operations are never exposed to MCP.

🛠️ Verification & Tech Stack

  • Pure Go (Zero CGO): Franz-Go (Kafka), Nats.go (NATS), AWS SDK v2 (SQS), amqp091-go & rabbit-hole/v3 (RabbitMQ), Mark3labs (MCP), Modernc (SQLite).
  • Frontend: React 18, TypeScript, Tailwind CSS, Lucide Icons.
  • Cross-Platform Binaries: Pre-compiled binaries for Windows (streamer-windows-amd64.exe) and Linux (streamer-linux-amd64).
  • Cryptographic Checksums: Full SHA256 integrity verification in SHA256SUMS.txt.

Streamer v1.2 ⚡

Streamer v1.2 brings two major additions to the streaming suite: Amazon SQS queue management and an embedded Model Context Protocol (MCP) Server that enables AI coding assistants (Claude Desktop, Cursor, Antigravity) to safely discover, inspect, and query your streaming infrastructure directly from chat!

🤖 Embedded Model Context Protocol (MCP) Server

Streamer now runs a built-in local MCP SSE Server (http://127.0.0.1:<port>/sse), bridging modern AI assistants directly to your message brokers:

  • Token-Efficient 4-Meta-Tool Interface:
    • list_actions: Discover available operations across Kafka, NATS, and SQS filtered by protocol or read-only status.
    • get_action_schema: Fetch detailed JSON parameter schemas on demand.
    • run_action: Execute single streaming operations with intelligent parameter normalization and JSON payload serialization.
    • run_action_sequence: Execute multi-step streaming pipelines with output piping between steps.
  • Strict Safety Guarantee: No delete or purge actions are ever exposed to MCP, ensuring AI agents cannot accidentally destroy cluster data.
  • Read-Only Safety Switch: Toggle Read-Only mode in Settings to restrict AI agents exclusively to query and inspect operations.
  • 1-Click Integration: Ready-to-use configuration snippets exportable directly into claude_desktop_config.json or Cursor/Antigravity MCP settings.
  • Settings & Lifecycle: Toggle server on/off with live status pill, configure loopback port (default 8765), and optionally enable auto-start on application launch.

📬 Amazon SQS Suite

Full-featured AWS and local SQS queue exploration and telemetry:

  • Standard & FIFO Queues: Create, inspect, and configure Standard and FIFO (.fifo) queues with full parameter control (Visibility Timeout, Message Retention, Delivery Delay, Content-based Deduplication).
  • Live Message Polling: Long-polling inspector supporting Peek Mode (inspect messages without affecting visibility) and Consumer Mode.
  • Interactive Message Producer: Send messages with custom Delay Seconds, Message Group IDs, Deduplication IDs, and custom String/Binary Message Attributes.
  • Dead Letter Queue (DLQ) Redrive: Automatic detection of linked DLQs from Redrive Policies and safe batch redrive of dead-letter messages back to active source queues with progress tracking.
  • Local & Cloud Compatibility: Native support for AWS SQS, LocalStack, and ElasticMQ endpoints.

⚡ Connector Hardening & Bug Fixes

  • Kafka Empty Payload Fix: Fixed an issue where callers passing value, message, data, or raw JSON objects produced 0-byte Kafka records. All payloads are now safely extracted and serialized.
  • NATS KV Value Hardening: Audited and hardened nats.put_kv_entry to correctly serialize structured JSON objects and reject empty values.
  • SQS URL Resolution: Added automatic queue name-to-canonical URL resolution for SQS MCP actions.
  • Parameter Normalization: Added robust synonym and alias mapping across all Kafka, NATS, and SQS actions.

🛠️ Verification & Tech Stack

  • Pure Go (Zero CGO): Franz-Go (Kafka), Nats.go (NATS), AWS SDK v2 (SQS), Mark3labs (MCP), Modernc (SQLite).
  • Cross-Platform Binaries: Pre-compiled binaries for Windows (streamer-windows-amd64.exe) and Linux (streamer-linux-amd64).
  • Cryptographic Checksums: Full SHA256 integrity verification in SHA256SUMS.txt.
