Forza Motorsport 3 Native PC Recompilation — 0.1.1

Maintenance update to the work-in-progress native Windows port.

What's new

• Shorter package name: extract FM3.zip to get the FM3 folder.

• Detect FM3 Plus paths that exceed the Windows limit before installation starts.

• Remove FM3 Plus explanatory annotations and the broken quick-start save option.

• Reject unsafe paths in mod ZIP archives, ISO directory entries and uninstall state.

• Validate replacement mod archives before removing the existing installation.

• Preserve mod recovery information on restoration errors and before replacing files.

• Handle truncated ISO metadata safely and avoid truncating camera settings after a failed read.

• Require --user-dir for command-line mod operations.

• Fix the initial build when recompiled sources have not been generated yet.

• Add launcher regression tests and clarify the source-build instructions.

What works

• Menus, videos, Free Play, and races at 60 FPS, as documented for 0.1.0.
• Named local profiles with separate save data.
• Xbox-compatible controllers and remappable keyboard controls.
• Internal resolution up to 4K, anisotropic filtering, FXAA, AMD CAS, and AMD FSR.
• English and Spanish launcher interface.
• Two-disc ISO installation with file verification.
• Project Forza Plus 3 installation and configuration.
• Shader precompilation to reduce first-time stutter.

Important

No game files are included. You must provide your own original copies of
Forza Motorsport 3: Ultimate Collection (USA) for Xbox 360.

Validation

Windows x64 Release build and launcher regression tests passed. The installed
Disc 1 passed full SHA-256 verification with no missing or differing files.
The packaged launcher started successfully. Full two-disc installation, the
real mod installation and extended gameplay were not repeated for this update.

Antivirus scan

Microsoft Defender reported no threats in the release files and ZIP on
15 October 2026, using security intelligence 1.461.35.0.
No false positive was reproduced in this check.

The Forza 2 v0.3.0 notes
document historical generic or heuristic detections of rexruntime.dll in
that port's 0.2.0 package. Those reports concern different binaries. This
Defender result is specific to the present scan, not a guarantee about every
antivirus engine. SHA-256 hashes are provided below and in SHA256SUMS.txt.

Known limitations

• Career mode, local multiplayer, and other modes require more testing.
• A mod update interrupted during file replacement can leave a partial update;
  full transactional rollback is not implemented.
• Some stutter may occur the first time a track is visited.
• Frame pacing still needs further improvement.
• Xbox Live is not available.
