@1amageek 1amageek released this 07 Oct 07:42
  • Fix fullscreen toolbar overlap and unintended window zoom when double-clicking deck CUE, TAP or disabled SYNC controls; retain the standard macOS window and native fullscreen/zoom controls.
  • Remove the unused top toolbar space in normal DJ windows, and keep the sidebar toggle in the existing document tab row in both normal and fullscreen modes.
  • Create numbered Sound1.swift, Sound2.swift, and subsequent Swift files directly in the current project’s source directory from either deck’s plus button. Save and open the new editing tab immediately without a naming or destination dialog, while retaining the loaded Music entry.
  • Skip occupied file and folder names without overwriting them; report creation errors and reject creation before writing when the deck has reached its tab limit.

Validation: five focused filesystem/document checks passed in 3.977s, covering repeated creation, occupied names, fresh-browser numbering, write failure, tab limits and performer/revision retention. Native LiveSet checks verified normal/fullscreen chrome, sidebar toggling, prepared transport double-clicks, FX popovers, native fullscreen/zoom and immediate A/B file creation. The release package is checked for version metadata, strict signature, bundled source identity and runtime digests. SwiftMusic remains pinned to public 0.5.1. This is a source preview requiring Swift 6.4, macOS 15+ and Xcode command-line tools; no notarized binary is provided. Native window dragging and physical trackpad feel are not claimed as verified.

  • Add a circular transport CUE button beside each deck’s play button: set while paused, return and pause while playing, hold to preview, and release to return. Shift+CUE returns to the start.
  • Map Play Mode left/right Option press and release to A/B transport CUE, including Shift+Option. Headphone monitoring stays on its separate button.
  • Add independent Phaser, Chorus and Flanger FX for each deck with a Mix/Depth pad and BPM-synchronized quarter-, half-, one-, two- and four-beat modulation. Details provides free rate and feedback controls.
  • Use Mix alone to activate FX: initial/reset Mix is 0% (dry), moving right adds the effect, and the deck FX button reflects the active state. Smooth parameter changes and effect switching without recompilation.
  • Enlarge the default editor window to 1280 × 800 and make the full beat-selector button clickable.
  • Publish the product website with real screenshots, scratch and Play Mode guides, and social sharing metadata.

Validation: seven native PCM, CUE, keyboard and FX tests passed in 0.865s. Release packaging, strict signature, runtime digests and website checks passed; packaged UI verification confirmed Mix activation/reset and compact controls. SwiftMusic remains pinned to 0.5.1. This is a source preview requiring Swift 6.4, macOS 15+ and Xcode command-line tools; no notarized binary is provided. Physical trackpad feel is not automated.

MusicPlayground 0.5.1 (Preview)

Pre-release

@1amageek 1amageek released this 11 Sep 23:10

MusicPlayground 0.5.1 Preview adds Xcode-style inline compiler diagnostics.

  • Show compiler issues directly in the editor with red gutter markers, underlines, subtle row backgrounds and trailing inline messages.
  • Click an inline message or issue-list entry to open the source file and select the compiler-reported location. Errors precede warnings, and full build output starts collapsed.
  • Map UTF-8 compiler columns to Unicode editor positions and retain exact source snapshots; changed text, unknown files and ambiguous locations never receive stale or guessed navigation.
  • Include ordinary Swift syntax/type failures and package-manifest reload diagnostics while preserving the previous valid music after failed edits.

Validation: four focused tests passed, covering real compiler errors, cross-file navigation, Unicode/EOF and ambiguous locations, native annotation lifecycle, and retained audio after typed and ordinary compiler failures. The packaged app was visually verified with a real line-7/column-19 error; clicking its inline message selected the failing character and opened details. SwiftMusic remains pinned to public 0.5.1. This is a source preview requiring Swift 6.4 and Xcode command-line tools; no notarized binary is provided. Earlier documented limitations outside editor diagnostics remain unchanged.

MusicPlayground 0.5.0 (Preview)

@1amageek 1amageek released this 11 Sep 15:13

MusicPlayground 0.5.0 Preview improves live source updates and scratch playback.

  • Choose when source edits become audible and apply replacements with seamless crossfades.
  • Cache SwiftPM binary-directory discovery between source edits to avoid repeated process startup.
  • Track cumulative scratch position and use band-limited variable-speed playback in both directions, including while paused. Scratch bypasses pitch preservation; normal tempo changes retain it.
  • Preserve recent hand velocity through finger release and smoothly launch inertia. Fast finite gestures retain their displacement while audible read speed stays bounded.
  • Keep scratch gestures active when contact count changes between two and three fingers, rebasing the touch centroid to avoid jumps.

Validation: 56 Release integration tests passed across native audio, gesture transitions, inertia, source replacement and deck isolation. Earlier scratch checks verified pitch following speed, exact position return, bounded resampling and PCM lifetime. Physical finger feel is not automated. SwiftMusic remains pinned to public 0.5.1. This remains a source preview requiring Swift 6.4 and Xcode command-line tools; no notarized binary is provided. Previously documented editor and hardware-verification limitations remain outside this release's scope.

MusicPlayground 0.4.0 (Preview)

Pre-release

Choose a tag to compare

@1amageek 1amageek released this 11 Sep 12:44

MusicPlayground 0.4.0 Preview updates the host and new-project templates to SwiftMusic 0.5.1 and improves live evaluation and audio generation.

  • Avoid per-frame voice copies: four-second synthesis measured 248 → 70 ms with eight tracks and 490 → 137 ms with sixteen tracks on M4 Max (seven-run Release medians), preserving exact PCM.
  • Reuse evaluation binaries, compiler discovery, meter snapshots, oscillator preparation and FFT workspace.
  • Retain immutable mapped PCM across worker transport and playback, and improve obsolete-render cancellation.
  • Update package resolution, completion/evaluation manifests, starter projects, sample project and README to SwiftMusic 0.5.1.

Validation: 208 SwiftMusic Release tests; 24 synthesis and eight live/native host checks; 12 project/completion/template checks; two packaged-runtime checks. Generated-template native audio and both Slider paths verified. Version 0.4.0/build 4 and local app signature verified.

This is a source preview requiring Swift 6.4 and Xcode command-line tools; no notarized binary is provided. See CHANGELOG.md for inherited limitations and measurement scope.

MusicPlayground 0.3.0 (Preview)

Pre-release

Choose a tag to compare

@1amageek 1amageek released this 10 Sep 15:23

Source release using SwiftMusic 0.5.0.

  • Independent A/B decks, shared source documents, separate tabs and evaluation workers, TAP/Sync, and a central equal-power crossfader.
  • Two generated musical starters, per-deck EQ/Gain and Filter/Space controls, selectable deck palettes, and shared 3D vectorscope trails.
  • Bidirectional Wave scratching while playing or paused, inertial release, and a centered scrolling waveform.
  • Selectable main/headphone outputs and independent deck CUE.
  • Play Mode with independent left/right 18% scratch regions and a bottom 20% crossfader region at 3x sensitivity. Resting touch starts remain tracked so subsequent motion can operate alongside another edge.
  • Space toggles both decks; standalone left/right Command and Option taps control deck transport and headphone CUE. Escape restores the cursor.
  • Compact tabs with cross-deck loading and file dragging, editor viewport clipping, queued-play cancellation, semantic-service recovery, and more readable controls and monitor colors.

Validation: 26 focused tests passed, covering generated SwiftPM projects, independent evaluation workers, shared document editing, native deck mixing/Sync/CUE, scratch inertia, transport keys and edge contact routing.

This remains a source preview requiring Swift 6.4 and Xcode command-line tools. No notarized binary is provided. Physical multi-contact trackpad behavior is not fully verified: the resting-contact fix passes a native-event regression, but still needs hardware confirmation. Earlier broad editor tests reported string/comment highlighting and restored horizontal-scroll failures; these remain known issues outside this release's focused validation.

Build and run

See the 0.3.0 README. Requires macOS 15 or later, Swift 6.4 and Xcode command-line tools. Runtime validation was performed on Apple silicon with macOS 27; other declared macOS versions were not revalidated.

MusicPlayground 0.2.0 (Preview)

Pre-release

@1amageek 1amageek released this 10 Sep 01:55

Source release using SwiftMusic 0.5.0.

  • Folder-based SwiftPM projects with a compact welcome screen, a generated playable starter, persistent dependency navigation, and cached package preparation.
  • A 140 BPM starter with nested sounds, four tracks, and both Playground-owned and explicit @State sliders, with credit to Switch Angel.
  • SourceKit semantic highlighting, five configurable editor themes and font sizing, Japanese input and selection fixes, comment toggling, and improved tabs, scrolling and line numbers.
  • Faster live track mute, Space-key transport outside the editor, and three-finger tempo gestures scoped to the BPM control.
  • Independent Wave, Spectrum and Vectorscope popovers; spectrum EQ response curves and reset; vectorscope balance/reverb control and reset.
  • A live stereo-linked master compressor in Wave with threshold, ratio, attack/release, aligned pre/post traces, gain reduction, bypass and reset. Compression also reaches recordings.
  • Refresh cached project build plans when bundled host source files change.

Validation: the current generated-project compilation/rendering and both slider paths passed against public SwiftMusic 0.5.0. The compressor passed eight focused dynamics/PCM checks and a native hardware recording check. The packaged app played the matching starter with zero reported errors/dropouts; compressor settings and reset were exercised through native accessibility actions.

Verification limits: physical mouse dragging in the compressor popover and physical three-finger trackpad input still need manual confirmation. These limits are not claims of verified gesture behavior. This remains a source preview; build locally with Swift 6.4 and Xcode command-line tools. No notarized binary is provided.

Build and run

See the 0.2.0 README. Requires macOS 15 or later, Swift 6.4, and Xcode command-line tools. Runtime verification was performed on Apple silicon with macOS 27; other declared macOS versions were not revalidated.

MusicPlaygournd 0.1.0 (Preview)

Pre-release

Choose a tag to compare

@1amageek 1amageek released this 09 Sep 07:13

Initial public source preview of the native macOS live Swift music editor, using SwiftMusic 0.3.0.

  • Swift editor with file tabs/sidebar, completion, formatting, and per-document Undo/Redo.
  • Inline rhythm results and per-track mute.
  • Prepared @State switch pads, including switches around whole Tracks.
  • Native playback, global controls and XY pad, stereo waveform/spectrum, optional MIDI Learn and recording.

Build and run

See the README and LiveSwitch sample.

This is a source release, not a notarized app download. Build locally with Swift 6.4 and Xcode command-line tools; the resulting app retains paths to that installed toolchain. Swift sessions execute trusted local code with the user's permissions.

Validation

  • Standalone release app build using the exact public SwiftMusic 0.3.0 dependency.
  • 16 focused behavioral checks passed across compiler-backed switch preparation/selection, playback replacement, completion, Undo/Redo, and native audio output. A duplicate test cleanup was corrected and the affected switch check rerun successfully.
  • Fresh public clone matches the verified source commit and resolves only the public SwiftMusic dependency, without a sibling checkout or dependency override.
  • Validated on Apple silicon, macOS 27, Swift 6.4.2-dev snapshot 2026-09-04-a. Other declared macOS versions are not runtime-verified.
