Built on Frigate v0.18.0

What's Changed

  • One slow IPC reply no longer silences a process until restart
  • Visibly indicate when Fregata is waiting on a missing media directory instead of only silently waiting
  • If the background worker that creates reviews crashes, it is now restarted automatically
  • Fall back to the GPU if macOS refuses to start the model on the ANE (macOS 27.2-beta2)
  • Fix a bug where starting 2 copies of Fregata back to back could crash one of them. Now the second start just quits.
  • A dialog being open (such as to eject the installer DMG) no longer blocks stats updates, restart requests, etc
  • Allow deep-links to the Fregata sections of Frigate's Settings WebUI
  • If moving finished clips to the media directory took too long, Fregata used to delete them. On a slow NAS that could mean losing footage. It now keeps them and tries again. It also finalizes each clip while it is still in the RAM cache, so less work goes over the network
  • Prevent a rare error when trying to bind ports on startup that could lead to a crash
  • On some Macs, especially M6, the detector could freeze for up to 100 seconds due to an Apple driver bug. Implemented a workaround that prevents this

Fixed Frigate Bugs that will be reported to the Frigate Developers

  • Reviews now keep working after a camera is disabled and re-enabled mid-event
  • A clip download that stopped partway could tie up the web server until nothing responded, sometimes for minutes (backported fix from Frigate v0.19 dev branch)
  • If you set “pre-capture” to more than about a minute, Frigate kept throwing away the cached video it needed, and the log filled with warnings. The cache now grows to match your pre-capture setting
  • The GIF and MP4 previews for a review often skipped most of their frames and missed the moment that mattered
