Repository navigation
macOS: download Hover-3.9.0-macos-arm64.dmg (Apple silicon) or -macos-x64.dmg (Intel), open it and drag Hover to Applications. The app isn't notarized yet, so the first time, open it with right-click → Open (or System Settings → Privacy & Security → Open Anyway).
Roadmap #30 (issues #31 to #41), the Compact at slider, and two fixes from PR #44. Windows and
Linux only: the Mac app and the web office are not changed. Checked on Linux with stand-in agents
and a real Git repository; not run on Windows or a Mac.
Added
- A new task that edits files gets its own Git worktree and branch (#31). The new-task box says so
before you start. Read-only tasks, Kiro Web, folders that are not Git projects and repositories
with no commit yet work in the folder itself; Hover never runsgit init. Settings → Automation →
"Work in the project folder itself" switches it off. - Expand chat (#41). The desk card and the chat header have an Expand button that opens the same chat
large in the app window: a session list (open and saved chats, hideable and resizable), Files &
changes beside it, the status, branch, model, Stop and Open in editor in the header, and a wide reply
box. It is the same session, draft, queue and place in the thread; nothing restarts, and approvals
and questions stay answerable. Esc or the shrink button goes back to the office. - Open in editor (#40): the desk card and the expanded chat open the task's own folder in the editor
chosen in Settings → Automation. Hover a line in Files or Diff and press "Open ↗" to open the file at that line. - Queued replies can be edited, sent now, or cancelled in the chat (#36). Stop now keeps the replies
waiting behind the run, held, instead of dropping them, and a note over the reply box offers "Send them now". - A usage-limit note over the reply box (#39): what the agent said, when it lifts, and Continue at the reset,
Retry now, Snooze, Cancel. Settings → Automation → "Continue when a usage limit lifts" arms it for you. - A More menu in the chat header (#35): continue with another agent, fork the chat, and bring a fork's
findings back to the original. A fork gets a worktree of its own, as a new task does. - Context chips (#33): Attach on a file (a copy, or "As reference"), on each changed file in Diff, and on
each command in Terminal. The chips show above the reply box with an ×, and go with the message. - Watch this pull request (#38): a button in the PR panel. The task is told of new reviews, failed checks, a
conflict, and when the pull request is done or closed. "Stop watching" ends it. - Let a task ask other agents for help (#32, Linux and Mac): a switch in the new-task box, a chat menu item,
and the helpers listed in the Agents tab. Limits are in Settings → Automation. - Settings → Automation (#34, #37): custom ACP agents and the ACP Registry, saved tasks that run on a
schedule or a webhook, a webhook address, and the background service (hoverai --service), which runs
saved tasks when the app is closed. The service is written for systemd, launchd and Task Scheduler; only
the systemd unit text was checked, none of the three was run. - Kiro → Compact at is a slider from 20 % to 100 %. It replaces the five buttons (50 to 90 %). A saved
number under 20 is read as 20 and the file is left as it was.
Not in this release
- The Mac Swift app and the web office are not changed.
- Worktree choices beyond the default (start from another branch, use an existing worktree, remove, make
again, bring the branch back) are in the code and tested, but the app has no screen for them. - Agents helping agents has no socket on Windows.
- Send-a-selection: context chips take a whole file, a whole file's change, or a command's whole output,
not a selected part.
Changed
- The office draws on one flat 60 fps schedule, and no longer slows down when idle (PR #44, half of
the stutter in #27). Linux still reads each frame back and composes it on the CPU, which is the
rest of #27. Two office tests that expected the old 10 fps idle pace now expect the flat one. - Rewind starts a replacement conversation from an account of the kept turns, instead of telling the
agent it still remembers. hover-agentsdepends onsha2, which is already in the build.AgentToolhas a sixth value,
Custom: going back to 3.8 with a custom-agent chat leaves that chat unreadable.
