TILE32 0.32.2
TILE32 0.32.2 keeps your layouts through a screen lock and through display changes.
Download the DMG, open it, and drag TILE32 to Applications, replacing the previous version. Your settings and remembered layouts carry over, and macOS keeps the Accessibility permission.
Fixes
- Layouts survive a screen lock. While the screen is locked, macOS takes the displays offline for a moment. TILE32 treated them as unplugged, dropped their layouts, and arranged the windows afresh after the unlock. Now TILE32 reads and moves nothing while the screen is locked, the displays sleep or another user is active, and it waits a moment after the unlock.
- A display that goes away keeps its layout. When it comes back and macOS moves its windows back, they take their old tiles again. This also covers unplugging and replugging a display.
- Remembered layouts are used whenever a desktop needs one, not only once after TILE32 starts.
TILE32 makes no network calls and does not check for updates. The app and the DMG are signed with a Developer ID and notarized by Apple. SHA256SUMS lists the checksums of the DMG and the ZIP.
TILE32 0.32.1
TILE32 0.32.1 fixes two problems found in daily use of 0.32.
Download the DMG, open it, and drag TILE32 to Applications, replacing 0.32. Your settings and remembered layouts carry over, and macOS keeps the Accessibility permission.
Fixes
- Outlook pop-up windows float. A new email, a new calendar invite or a message opened on its own stays where Outlook puts it and no longer re-arranges the layout. The mail and calendar windows stay tiled.
- No more overlapping windows when an app cannot be read. If macOS refuses to list an app's windows for a while, those windows now keep their tiles. Before, they were treated as closed and the other windows grew over them.
TILE32 makes no network calls and does not check for updates. The app and the DMG are signed with a Developer ID and notarized by Apple. SHA256SUMS lists the checksums of the DMG and the ZIP.
TILE32 0.32
TILE32 0.32 is the first public release of the mouse-driven tiling window manager for Apple-silicon Macs running macOS 27 or later.
Download the DMG, open it, and drag TILE32 to Applications. On first start, TILE32 asks for the Accessibility permission and starts paused; choose "Resume tiling" in its menu bar menu. "TILE32 Help" in the same menu has a short guide.
What it does
- Keeps the windows on each display side by side, without overlapping, with a separate layout for every desktop and display.
- Drag a window by its title bar onto another window: the centre swaps the two, the edges split the target. A highlight shows the result before you let go, and Escape cancels.
- Drop a window at the left or right edge of a display to give it the full height there.
- Drag the edge between two windows to resize both; sizes snap to quarters, thirds and halves.
- A window limit per display, with extra windows minimised and swapped in when used.
- Windows stay where they are when TILE32 restarts, and go back to their places after a restart of the Mac, as far as they can be recognised.
- Pause, "Untile" to restore every window, and excluded apps that are never tiled.
Notes
- This is an early release: the final acceptance checks for drag-to-split and polish are still open. Feedback and bug reports are welcome as GitHub issues.
- TILE32 makes no network calls and does not check for updates. New versions are published on this releases page.
- The app and the DMG are signed with a Developer ID and notarized by Apple.
