The Fruit of Life is drawn true, and a Construction tab shows how a figure is built · 2026-10-14

  • The Fruit of Life is the canonical figure. Its 13 circles were drawn as large as the lattice spacing, so neighbors overlapped although the caption calls them disjoint. They are now half that size, with the outer six in line with the inner six, so each circle touches its neighbors and none overlap. Metatron's Cube is drawn on the same 13 circles and changes with it; its 78 lines and 13 circles are unchanged in number.
  • A Construction tab shows how a figure is built. The Inspector's new Construction tab lists the circles, triangles, segments, circle relations and symmetry the figure on screen actually draws, read from the drawing itself, with its source. Sri Yantra and the Flower of Life family come first. A figure drawn for the look rather than to its canonical construction says so in a plain line at the top.

Small density exports and Motion Studio videos match the screen · 2026-10-14

  • Small Motion Studio videos and multi-layer exports of density fractals match the screen. A video frame or a composite layer smaller than the canvas drew proportionally fewer samples and toned from an estimate, so a small Buddhabrot, IFS, attractor or flame clip came out grainier than the picture. These now render at the screen's size and are scaled down, as still exports do.
  • Small Buddhabrot, IFS, attractor and flame exports are no grainier than the screen. An export smaller than the canvas drew proportionally fewer samples, so a thumbnail of a density fractal came out visibly noisier than the picture it was saved from. It now renders at the screen's size and is scaled down into the file.

Focus on a phone clears the whole screen, and 4D polytopes tumble faster with glow · 2026-10-13

  • Focus on a phone clears the whole screen. The Inspector handle stayed along the bottom edge in Focus, with the Exit button sitting on top of it. Focus now hides the handle too, and it comes back on exit.
  • 4D polytopes animate about 1.6 times faster with glow on. Every edge stroke of a 4D polytope blurred its own glow, so the star polytopes tumbled at 10 to 12 frames a second at Retina size. The glow is now drawn once per frame, as it already was for the 2D patterns, and the same tumble runs at 17 to 22.

Buddhabrot frames keep their brightness, and Fog Distance works everywhere · 2026-10-13

  • Buddhabrot PNG sequences keep their brightness. The first frame of a PNG sequence from Motion Studio could be written before its render finished, because a redraw queued by rewinding to the first keyframe started on top of it. A Buddhabrot frame then came out almost black. Video and frame-exact exports drop that queued redraw the same way.
  • Frame-exact video export saves its file again. The export rendered and encoded every frame, then failed while naming the file, so nothing was saved and the status stayed on its progress line.
  • Fog Distance works on Quaternion Julia and Mandelbox. On both types the fog began beyond the farthest surface of the opening view, so the default picture had no fog and moving Fog Distance changed nothing. The fog now begins just in front of each type's own surface, as it already did on Mandelbulb, so the default shows a little depth haze and the control moves it both ways.

Controls that do something, and exports that match their size · 2026-10-13

  • Geometry controls that changed nothing now either work or step aside. Fill and Fill Opacity showed on twenty-two patterns that never draw a fill, among them the music diagrams, Lo Shu and several Cayley graphs; they are now hidden there. On the Ulam spiral, Fill Opacity now sets how strongly the non-prime cells show. Stroke Opacity now fades the Cayley graphs, the Klein quartic, the branch cuts and the antipodal map. On domain coloring, Scale, Line Weight, Stroke Opacity and Glow are hidden, since the colored plane covers them.
  • Post-FX in an export stays on the picture, not the bars. When an export's shape differs from the screen, the picture sits centred on plain bars, but Post-FX ran over the whole page, so a vignette was centred on the page and darkened the bars. Post-FX now grades the picture first and the bars stay the background color, in Quick and Print.
  • WebP exports above 16383 pixels say what size they really are. WebP stores at most 16383 pixels per side, so a 16384 export came out one pixel short while the filename and the finished notice still said 16384. A WebP export past the limit is now scaled to fit before it renders, the export panel says so when you pick the size, a notice names the size it exports at, and the filename carries that size.

Large exports keep every tile · 2026-10-13

  • Start sliders that do nothing are gone on Duffing and Thomas. These two attractors settle onto the same figure from any starting point, so their x₀ slider (and Thomas's y₀) moved nothing. Those sliders are now hidden on those two types, with a short note saying why. Every other attractor keeps all of its start sliders.
  • The 7.0.14 What's New card no longer says the Dock name matches the page title. Since the colon came back to the page title in 7.1.0, the two differ: macOS drops the colon from an installed app's name.
  • Large GPU exports no longer save with a missing tile. A 4K print at 3x supersample of a high-iteration view drew each GPU tile as one 4560 px piece. The tile over the slowest part of the picture took about five seconds to draw and was copied into the image before the GPU had finished it, so it came out as plain background, a block about 1500 px square in the saved file, and the export reported success. Each tile is now copied only once the GPU has drawn it, and one that never lands stops the export with a message instead of saving a partly empty image. Tiles are also sized to the iteration count, so no single draw runs that long. Exports made while the tests ran also stop landing in the Downloads folder.
  • The first frame is already the final layout for more ways in. A link with a type this version does not know, an old share link for a type that has since been merged, or a share link the app turns away laid the canvas out for the wrong type and then jumped. The canvas now stays hidden until the link has been read. A folded inspector from your last visit only folded after the first frame, so the canvas resized a moment after it appeared. Both are now settled before anything is drawn.

The Catalog opens instantly, and a Variation sheet · 2026-10-12

  • The Catalog opens instantly. Every type's opening view now ships with the app as a pre-rendered preview, so opening the Catalog paints from files instead of drawing 241 full-size pictures on the live canvas. A first open on a fresh install draws nothing, the live view no longer has to be frozen behind a copy of itself while the sheet fills, and the previews are in the download so the sheet looks the same offline. A view with no shipped preview still draws live, now with a time limit: past it the card keeps its type icon rather than holding the queue.
  • Variation sheet. A new File entry, also on the command palette, lays the current picture out beside five named variants of itself: three neighbouring palettes and two moves of a knob that matters in the current mode, each parked in its own cell of one sheet. The sheet is an ordinary project, so it saves and reopens as .aeon with the cells and their names intact, and it exports at any size through the usual export panel. Nothing new renders: the cells are layers, drawn by the compositor the app already uses.
  • Buddhabrot, attractor, IFS and flame exports keep the screen's brightness at any size. Each image was scaled to its own brightest pixel, and a larger export resolves a brighter peak than the screen does, so a big export came out darker than what you saw and a small one lighter: a 16384-wide Buddhabrot print was 18% darker. Exports now take the peak the screen would see. Small attractor, IFS and flame exports also scale their point count down with the picture, as the Buddhabrot already did. An attractor export too big for the point budget now says so instead of quietly coming out darker.
  • Big attractor exports get the points they need. An attractor export was held to 5 million points however large it was, so a poster-sized export came out sparse, with most of the orbit missing. Exports now draw up to 200 million points, enough for a 9216x16384 export of a full-screen view, and the progress pill counts them as they go. Past that, the notice says the export was capped.
  • Reopening a Lorenz or Chen-Lee attractor keeps the view you saved, and right-click zooms out again. Those two attractors sit further out than the 3D fractals do, and the zoom floor the ray-marched 3D fractals need was being applied to them too. Reopening a saved project, a bookmark or a share link pulled the camera in to that floor, and a right-click or scroll zoom-out from the default framing hit the floor and moved the camera the wrong way. Each 3D attractor now has room to sit at its own default framing, so a saved view reopens exactly as it was and zooming out moves outward. Ray-marched 3D fractals keep their own range.
  • Density layers in a multi-layer export match the screen's brightness too. The brightness fix for Buddhabrot, attractor, IFS and flame exports did not reach a density layer that was not the active one, so a multi-layer export came out darker when larger. Those layers now take the screen's peak as well, and their point count also scales down for an export smaller than the screen.
  • A notice no longer blocks the button under it. A notice left on screen from one export sat over the Export button the next time the export panel opened, and a click on Export landed on the notice instead, so nothing happened. Clicks now pass through a notice to whatever is under it; its close button still works.
  • The app name has its colon back. The page title, the installed app's name and link previews read AEON: Universal Dynamics Reactor again. On a Mac, the Dock and the app switcher still show the name without the colon: the browser writes that label itself, and macOS app names cannot hold one. The home-screen label stays AEON.

The app keeps its name · 2026-10-12

  • The installed app keeps its full name. Installed from the browser on a Mac, the app showed as "AEON Universal Dynamics Reactor" in the Dock and the app switcher, without the colon in the name the page used: macOS app names cannot hold one, so the browser dropped it. The name is now AEON Universal Dynamics Reactor everywhere, in the page title, the installed app and link previews, so it reads the same before and after install. The home-screen label stays AEON.
  • The six shape tiles on the website open AEON again. On the published site, clicking a tile under "Forms shipped in this box" reloaded the landing page instead of opening the app on that shape. Each tile now opens the app on the shape it shows, as it already did from the downloaded copy.

The Buddhabrot shows its orbits · 2026-10-11

  • The one-minute tour has a voiceover. Each narrated line starts with its caption, and the captions are unchanged. The picture is the same cut, frame for frame. The tour now plays with sound, in the app and on the landing page, and only starts when you press play.
  • The Fill note shows once. On a pattern that only draws strokes, the Inspector printed "This pattern draws strokes only, so fill has no effect on it." twice under Fill. It now shows once.
  • Buddhabrot renders and exports show the orbits, without a flat field or a hard rectangle. Each orbit was drawn from its starting point, so the box the starting points are picked from showed as a flat olive field with straight edges, on screen and in every export. Orbits are now drawn from their second step, on the CPU and the GPU, for the Buddhabrot and the anti-Buddhabrot. Separately, an export smaller than the screen kept the screen's full sample count, which made it run hotter and pinker than the screen; the count now scales down with the picture as it already scaled up. An export shaped differently from the screen still shows the whole view on bars, as before.
  • The landing page's gallery opens AEON on each form. Clicking any of the six pictures under Forms shipped in this box now opens AEON on the form it shows: Seed of Life, Sri Yantra, Maurer Rose, the kite-and-dart Penrose tiling, the Mandelbrot set and the tesseract.
  • The Klein quartic and the other surface polygons open at full size. The Klein quartic, the genus-four polygon and the fundamental polygon drew at about a third of the size of the figures around them. All three now open at the same, larger size.
  • The theme and contrast rows line up in the app menu. Their labels sat one icon to the right of every other row, because the check mark kept its place in front even when hidden. The check now sits at the end of the row, just before the shortcut key.
  • The tab icon has no border in Safari. Safari puts a white plate behind a favicon that is hard to see on its tab bar, and the old icon was a dark square on a dark bar, so it showed a white frame. The tab now shows the copper Seed of Life on its own, from a favicon.ico, small PNGs and an SVG, with a pinned-tab mask for Safari. The home-screen and installed-app icons keep their charcoal tile, as separate rounded and full-bleed versions for each platform.
