8b Library — curated documentation preview
Pre-releaseThe 8b Library brings the curated Guardian manuscripts, companion papers, and Field Before Spike illustration together with the existing research collection.
- 8b-library-curated.zip (0.9 MB) is the small download: five manuscripts in PDF and LaTeX, the illustration, six full Markdown readers, attribution, and source hashes.
- 8b-library-offline.zip (388 MB) is the complete static website, including the Reader, Explorer, local full-text search, Guardian playground, and legacy PDFs/audio. Its size reflects those original media files.
- SHA-256 sidecars are included for both archives.
To run the offline site, unzip it and run python3 -m http.server 8000 --bind 127.0.0.1 from the extracted folder. Open http://127.0.0.1:8000/8b-public-documents/. Local reading, search, and the playground need no remote service; external citations require internet access.
Validation: 137 built pages, 127 catalog entries, no missing local page/download links, 11 unit tests, and nine browser tests. Automated accessibility checks cover the new experiences in both themes. The Guardian playground is an educational subset; the paper’s exhaustive verification proposal remains unperformed. Draft status, authorship, and work-specific reuse terms are preserved.
Website hosting is pending: GitHub Actions is disabled for this repository by the organization policy. An organization admin needs to allow Actions for 8b-public-documents; the Pages workflow is ready. The public repository and these downloads are available now.
The offline archive was also tested with all external requests blocked: local full-text search, Reader, Explorer, Guardian interaction, image transcription, and source downloads passed. All 676 ZIP members pass CRC integrity checks; optional external fonts fall back successfully.
