April 20 Class Notes
I forgot to hit record at the start of today's session. My apologies! Here's a summary of what was covered:
Details on the final project can be found AT THIS LINK
- Make a Music Game
- Make sure it has some kind of tutorial/instructions
- Due May 11, with check-ins April 27 and May 4
Make sure you upload your builds AT THIS LINK. I prefer a video upload as well.
I don't want to paraphrase too much of what Matt said, but he's given an interview that covers some of the basics of the project.
The main tools used were Reaper, which he said was indispensable (you can automate a lot of tasks in Reaper with custom scripts and actions), and Audio Helm for sequencing and sampling in Unity.
For generating and categorizing drum clips, he used some different neural network structures. One of which is called Magenta, which was developed by Google and has a codebase released under Apache 2.0 (you can use and modify it as much as you want).
Other potential resources that Matt mentioned (I will send more when I get them):
The Kontakt Sampler (I should mention that other samplers work just as well, Kontakt is just a standard)
Ray Wenderlich's tutorials - especially the custom editor scripting
ReaPack and the Reaper community
XRaym and his Rad Repository of Reaper Resources
And last but not least, the NYU Library system
Also, I promised I'd share my musical version of Tour, which was made by myself and Hosni Auji
