This is the first release of the "Universal" firmware which works on board revisions 1, 2, and 2.1. You need to download the appropriate firmware package for your board version. The board version is on the board, but currently this is an easy way to tell:
V1 - Large blue PCB
V2 - Small Green PCB
V2.1 - Small Blue PCB

IMPORTANT: This release only supports working with Frankengeek Electronics, there is a seperate release for Spirit factory electonics support.

New features
Supports all revisions of the SpiritBro board
The "Switch On" header terminal now supports a pushbutton switch which allows for additional controls and settings.

Issues Addressed
Adjusted power monitoring to attempt to make the shutdown via the Activate cleaner and less prone to false firing.

Board Flashing Instructions
Unplug all power and wand connections from board.

🔧 What You Need:

  • A computer (Windows, macOS, or Linux)
  • The correct firmware file for your board: SpiritBro_VX_FG_V102.zip (Where VX is the version of your PCB)
  • A SpiritBro circuit board
  • A USB-C cable with power and data lines (a lot of random/cheap cables don't' have data lines)

📁 Step 1: Unzip the File

Locate the downloaded file: SpiritBro_VX_FG_V102.zip

  • Right-click on the file and choose:
  • Windows: “Extract All…” or use a tool like 7-Zip
  • macOS: “Open With > Archive Utility”
  • You’ll get a file called:
  • SpiritBro_VX_FG_V102.uf2

🔌 Step 2: Put the SpiritBro into BootLoader Mode

  • Unplug your SpiritBro from the USB cable if it’s already connected.
  • Hold down the BOOT button (BOOTSEL button on V1 boards).
  • While holding the button, plug in the Pico using the micro-USB cable.
  • Release the button after plugging in.
  • A new drive called “RPI-RP2” should appear on your computer. If this does not work, try a different USB cable. Many USB cables people have around don't have all the data wires in them, so they may not work.

📤 Step 3: Copy the UF2 File to the SpiritBro board

  • Drag and drop the file SpiritBro_VX_FG_V102.uf2 onto the RPI-RP2 drive.
  • The SpiritBro will automatically reboot and run the new firmware.
  • Once you see a flashing green light, you can safely disconnect the board from your computer and connect it back into your pack.

✅ Done!
