You can use soup.find(...) to find a specific instance of a block from the root element. You can specific a condition using soup.find(ROOTELEMENT, {'element':parameter}), where parameter is the condition you are suggesting the element must match. This can either return None or it can return a sample of XML that you can search using keywords (it's a dictionary).

soup.findAll() is similar, but it's a list that you must index. You can do the same where you apply a condition (soup.findAll(..., {'element':parameter})).
