This is an infrastructure/environment flake due to self-hosted runner VM preemption/eviction, and not a codebase regression.

1. Abort Signature: The process was aborted with exit code 130 (SIGINT / interrupt signal) while the cell iteration loop was progressing normally (2.27 it/s).
2. VM Eviction: The GitHub Actions runner service log clearly indicates that the runner host received a shutdown/eviction signal (The runner has received a shutdown signal. This can happen when the runner service is stopped, or a manually started runner is canceled.).
3. Rest of Suite Success: All other 67 jobs in the test suite completed successfully, confirming the core codebase and tests are fully healthy.

1. Pre-commit Linter Failures:

   • Codespell: The newly added test file fused_moe_qwix_test.py contains the word prequantizes on line 233 (test_fp8_rule_prequantizes_weights_outside_qwix), which is flagged by codespell as a typo.
   • Pylint (R0903): The mock classes MinimalRule and helper Layer classes have too few public methods, triggering pylint's too-few-public-methods warning, which is enabled by default in the repository's configuration.

2. TPU Pathways Unit Tests (1) Failure:

   • Import / Collection Failure: tests/unit/fused_moe_qwix_test.py imports qwix globally at the top level. In CPU-only or multi-process client Pathways test environments, qwix may not be installed or fails to initialize due to missing TPU/GPU backend hardware support. Because the test file imports qwix at the module level, pytest collection fails entirely for the entire test suite on those runners, causing the execution to abort with ModuleNotFoundError.
   • Pathways Multi-Process Context: Since the Pathways unit test splits tests across multiple daemon processes, mock dictionary patches on sys.modules during low-precision quantization tracing can lead to compilation crashes if JAX is attempting to compile TPU Pallas kernels on clients.

🛠️ Recommended Fix

To resolve both linter and collection failures, we should modify tests/unit/fused_moe_qwix_test.py:

1. Rename the test method test_fp8_rule_prequantizes_weights_outside_qwix to avoid the codespell spelling error.
2. Add too-few-public-methods to the top-level # pylint: disable block.
3. Wrap the global import qwix in a try-except block or mark the test to skip if qwix is unavailable or if run in a CPU/Pathways environment.

In multi-process environments like client Pathways unit tests or CPU-only tests, qwix is not installed or available, causing the pytest collection phase to crash with ModuleNotFoundError before running any tests.
2. Pre-commit Spelling & Pylint warning:
   • Codespell flagged prequantizes on line 233 as a spelling mistake (suggesting pre_quantizes or pre-quantizes).
   • Pylint raised too-few-public-methods (warning R0903) on MinimalRule and other mock classes because they are minimalist placeholders for testing.

These linter and import collection issues were introduced in the recent merge of PR #5136 (sierraq/vllm-fused-moe-qwix-boundary by user sierraisland).

🛠️ Recommended Fix

We recommend guarding the global qwix import so tests can be cleanly skipped if qwix is unavailable, and updating pylint disables and function spelling to satisfy the linters.

This is a clear infrastructure/environment flake affecting the self-hosted TPU runner daemon for the Pathways workflows (linux-x86-ct6e-180-4tpu), and not a codebase regression.

1. Persistent Executor Failures: All three failing Pathways jobs (tpu-pathways-unit groups 1 and 2, and tpu-pathways-integration) failed with the exact same container execution error (Executing the custom container implementation failed).
2. Self-Hosted Runner Issues: This is a known issue with the self-hosted runner's container executor backend/service (such as Kubernetes container scheduling or GKE daemon issues), which prevents Actions jobs from successfully starting, orchestrating, or cleaning up the container runtime.
3. No Codebase Regression: All other 50+ test suites and linter checks (including TPU/CPU/GPU unit & integration tests) completed successfully across all runs, confirming that the codebase under the latest commit (e751f379d1396add30bd82df4a1c16fc70e35e1c) is completely healthy.

No code modifications are required. This failure can be resolved by restarting/re-provisioning the self-hosted GActions runner service for the linux-x86-ct6e-180-4tpu pool.
