@AIxBits AIxBits released this 08 Oct 15:31

Experimental Android 4.3 receiver 0.2.36

This release updates the separate API18/32-bit ARM target from the fork's 0.21 release. It does not change or replace the upstream Android 9+ receiver. Protocol/media baseline: DiPlay 0.2.8 (f2d06951b4e8114dbb62f551c12a32a845a3042f).

Changes

  • USBMUX/Lockdown TLS1.2, kernel USB configuration/alternate-interface activation, NCM framing fixes and ordered asynchronous USB reception.
  • Configurable 1/8/16 IN requests (default eight 16 KiB buffers), receive priority and actual USB speed diagnostics.
  • Default-enabled direct wired audio ingress bypassing TUN/UDP socket backlog for matching, checksum-validated flows; original socket mode remains selectable. Authentication, decryption and playback remain shared with the existing core.
  • Asynchronous audio diagnostics, kernel/per-port drop and queue counters, playback occupancy/rebuffer reporting, and a timed video reception comparison.
  • Built-in verified update downloads; optional manual/offline log upload without bundled private upload configuration.
  • API18 telephony routing correction and retained Surface recovery, wireless setup, GPS, optional vehicle input and media diagnostics.

Privacy and validation

186 host tests, API18/DEX/native/signature checks, mDNS reflection and synthetic mutual TLS packaging passed. Public source and APK scans passed. No user phone pairings, personal logs, upload/publish tokens or signing keystores are included. Public log upload is unconfigured; update downloads do not require publisher credentials.

The APK includes the same extractable experimental accessory identity as the pinned upstream public APK, consistent with the upstream notices. It is not Apple-certified. The source excludes identity/signing keys; source-only builds need explicit runtime provisioning for standalone authentication.

Earlier i.MX6 Android 4.3 wired projection was reported working beginning with 0.26. The new direct audio path still needs vehicle testing; audible stability, complete call duplex behavior and universal vehicle compatibility are not certified. Android 5.0 USB compatibility is not provided by this build.

VersionName 0.2.36, versionCode 37, package local.airuize.diplaylegacy. The signature matches the previous fork APK, allowing installation updates. Only the Android 4.3 ARM APK is attached.

@AIxBits AIxBits released this 02 Oct 15:39

Experimental Android 4.3 receiver — v0.21

This updates the fork's separate API18 receiver from v0.13 while preserving the upstream Android9+ application. It remains based on DiPlay0.2.8 (f2d06951), with selected legacy-compatible settings features; this is not a complete upstream0.2.9 merge or a change to the original maintainer's supported vehicle list.

Changes

  • Native home/settings pages following the upstream layout, with manual wireless/USB selection and the existing diagnostic tools.
  • Projection is displayed before waiting for the first video frame; entering/returning to projection and changed Surface dimensions trigger display recovery.
  • Optional automatic/background/reconnect controls, configurable display/performance settings, audio focus/buffer/volume and independent media/navigation output streams0–20 with previews.
  • Upstream Siri invocation and microphone negotiation, click-based OEM steering voice input and read-only vehicle GPS/CAN speed integration.
  • USB/iAP2/NCM/IPv6/VPN and alternative wireless modes are implemented but still require hardware validation.
  • Improved local media/display diagnostics and best-effort OEM current-error snapshots. Reverse Assist/PlatformService crashes are not marked resolved.

Validation and device feedback

115 JVM tests passed, along with API18 platform/member checks, single-DEX035/CRC, v1 signing and post-R8 mDNS/EnumMap checks. The device operator reported the v0.21 Android4.3 receiver working after the display-recovery revision. The APK runtime bytecode is identical to that accepted test build; only the bundled feature description was refreshed for publication.

This is not a universal compatibility claim. Complete USB sessions, telephone duplex audio, sustained microphone recognition, iPhone use of vehicle GPS/CAN speed, all vendor audio streams and complete Wi-Fi iAP2 handoff remain unverified. See the English README and validation documents in adaptation/receiver.

Only an Android4.3 APK is included. Install on the car; update the existing package in place to preserve settings. Source is available through this tagged repository and GitHub's source archives.

Privacy and authentication

No personal terminal paths, firmware images, device reports, credentials or Android signing keys are included in the source. Tests generate synthetic identities. Consistent with upstream's explicit runtime-asset policy, the release APK contains the same experimental accessory identity already distributed in this fork's v0.13 APK; it is extractable. This is not an Apple-certified product. Future iOS acceptance and suitability for general distribution remain unresolved.

@AIxBits AIxBits released this 01 Oct 14:18

Experimental Android 4.3 receiver — v0.13

Based on upstream DiPlay public preview 0.2.8. This fork adds a separate API18 receiver and preserves the upstream Android 9+ app. It does not extend the original maintainer's BYD support commitment.

  • Car-hotspot wireless CarPlay, encrypted control/events, H.264 video, touch, PCM/AAC audio and remembered-phone connection.
  • Vehicle GPS subscriptions and GGA/RMC reporting based on upstream, including fresh cached fixes and cross-link STOP cleanup.
  • Optional firmware-specific Skypine voice-button listener: open/connect when disconnected and request Siri when connected.
  • Upstream handoff conditions, 45-second watchdog and retry cleanup adapted to API18.

Reported on one Android 4.3/i.MX6 firmware: picture, basic touch, music, navigation synchronization and Siri activation. Vehicle GPS use by iPhone, physical steering-key delivery, complete Wi-Fi iAP2 handoff, telephone duplex audio and microphone routing remain unverified. See the English README, BUILD and VALIDATION documents under adaptation/receiver.

Local validation: 63 JVM tests with synthetic identities, SDK18 class/member checks, single DEX035/CRC, v1 signing and post-R8 mDNS/EnumMap checks. This is not a universal compatibility claim.

Privacy and authentication: no terminal paths, personal reports, firmware images or Android signing keys are included. The APK deliberately includes the same experimental accessory identity as upstream's public 0.2.8 release; it is extractable. The corresponding source archive excludes runtime and signing keys. This is not an Apple-certified product; future iOS acceptance and suitability for general distribution remain unresolved, as upstream documents.

The APK uses the existing local test signing certificate for update compatibility with the earlier v0.13 test installation. It is an experimental build. Its public documentation assets are in English; the receiver interface currently uses Simplified Chinese.
