wadamesh beta_90
Pre-releaseTest build, on top of the beta_89 redesign. Stable stays beta_85.
Flash it at flasher.wadamesh.com (switch the toggle to Beta), or update on the device if you have "Get test builds (beta)" turned on.
Colour is back
Several of you said the colour was what set wadamesh apart, and the beta_89 redesign took most of it out. This build puts it back as choices on a new Theme page, and turns MORE COLORS! on for everyone in its Regular style. If you liked the calm look of beta_89, turn MORE COLORS! off on the Theme page.
The Theme page
Settings > Theme, under Device. It opens on a preview of the launcher, a chat and the send button in whatever you pick, so you see the result before anything restarts. Under it:
- Mode: Night and Day as two small screens, with High contrast under them.
- Accent colour: the swatches on the page, and Custom for any other colour.
- Colour: MORE COLORS! with its style right under it (Regular, Neon, Pastel), and Taste the rainbow.
- Chats: chat icons (Glyphs or Initials), Colourful bubbles, and Compact messages.
The mode, the accent and the colours wait for one Apply and restart button on the preview. Scroll past the preview and the button stays in reach in a slim bar under the title, beside six dots in the colours you picked; tap the dots to go back up to the preview. The chat looks apply at once. Holding the theme chip in the control panel opens the page. Appearance, High contrast, the accent colour, Colourful chat bubbles and Compact messages moved here from Display.
MORE COLORS!, three ways
One switch that turns the calm redesign up. The layout stays the same in all three styles; what changes is how colour is used.
- Regular gives every section its own colour (the launcher, the Settings list, the tab bar), shows the status icons in colour (signal by strength, battery by level, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth tinted) and draws every name and glyph in its own hue.
- Neon is full cyberpunk: a near-black violet ground, electric cyan, hot magenta, laser yellow and acid lime, with lit edges on tiles, buttons and bubbles. Your accent stays yours, pushed to full brightness.
- Pastel is soft: mint, baby blue, lavender, peach and rose on a warm dark ground.
Taste the rainbow
Every app, Settings page and tab gets its own place on the colour wheel, in the style you picked, and a few things move:
- the tab marker, the chats count and the keyboard focus ring slowly travel round the colour wheel,
- buttons dip when you press them,
- a new message lands with a flash of its sender's colour,
- the lock screen mark, the boot mark and the screensaver's nodes light up in colour.
The motion only touches small things, and it rests while the screen is off, locked or showing the screensaver. Turning it on still says "Taste the rainbow!", now with a burst of coloured dots.
Chats
- Chat icons: Glyphs (the dot marks) or Initials, the old look of the first two letters of the name in a coloured ball. It applies at once and reaches every icon: the chat list, contacts, the conversation header, the lock screen cards and the new-message card. A chat icon you picked yourself still wins.
- Names are always in colour now. The Colourful bubbles switch colours the bubbles too, your own included, as it did before the redesign. Mentions of you keep their blue bubble.
- Day mode draws names and glyphs on its light lists in a deeper shade of their colour, so they read on white, and keeps the bright one inside the dark bubbles.
High contrast keeps its own fixed colours, so the colour switches are greyed out while it is on. The e-paper T-Deck Pro and Max show only the chat looks.
Smaller changes
- Every image is 30 KB smaller: the boot logo was stored in it twice. That also leaves the Heltec V4 room for everything in this build, the motion included.
- Text that is new in this build shows in English for now. The translations follow once the wording has settled.
Built and checked on a LilyGo T-Deck at every look, in Night and Day, at the Huge text size and at the portrait and Tanmatsu screen sizes. Every other board builds. Please report what you find with "Send a test report" in Settings > About, or an issue here.
