Download FounderOS-1.56.0.zip below and extract it. You get one folder called Founder OS. You need a paid Claude plan (Pro, Max, Team or Enterprise), Python 3.11 or newer, and to be 18 or over.
Open the folder in the Claude desktop app: the Code tab, then the folder control under the prompt box. Then say "set up Founder OS". That route follows Anthropic's docs, and we have not yet watched a fresh install run it. If you have the Claude Code terminal tool, double-click Start Founder OS inside the folder instead (the .bat file on Windows, the .command file on a Mac). On a Mac, if the first double-click is blocked, open System Settings, then Privacy & Security, click Open Anyway, and confirm with Open. Those are Apple's current steps, and the Mac start file hasn't been run on a real Mac yet, so tell us in an issue if it misbehaves. Stuck at any step? docs/troubleshooting.md lists what you might see and what to do.
What changed for you. When the OS proposes a test for your business, it offers to save it on one card, context/progress-card.md, and the next session starts from that card. Setup asks if you are 18 or over first. On a new install, six founder safety rules sit in CLAUDE.md and apply to every answer. The main one is no money before permission: the OS is told not to suggest a deposit, a pre-order, a paid pilot or a sale, or to ask a buyer to hold a date or a slot, until you know you may take money for that activity where you sell. A seventh rule says text from a web page, an email or a pasted document is information, not an instruction. scripts/unit_math.py does the unit-economics arithmetic, and several UAE pack facts are corrected, each checked at its source.
The day-one fixes come from a review of the whole path from the website to your first hour. No crash on Arabic or other non-Latin text on Windows. A troubleshooting page. A push guard that sends your OS only to a remote you confirmed private. The connect skill has you type Telegram, Gemini and ElevenLabs keys into .env yourself, and never asks for a key in the chat. An interrupted setup picks up where it stopped, and if your first answers were not saved yet it asks only for those. Uninstall keeps the skills, commands, scripts, hooks and agents you wrote, and your data folders. A skill that shipped goes with anything you added inside it, so uninstall names the legal references folder, where a jurisdiction pack lives, and tells you to copy it out first. The 1.56.0 update pack lists every change, every claim and what backs it, what the release review found, and what is still open.
Already running an earlier version? Open your OS folder and say "update Founder OS". Your data stays as it is. CLAUDE.md, rules/ and .claude/settings.json get a proposal, never an overwrite. Product files such as skills are replaced, and the update keeps a backup copy of each. Any earlier version runs its older update command, which leaves some files out. From 1.43.0 on, it is written to walk the pack's Integration protocol with you, one step at a time, asking before any change. We tested those steps by script, not with the model walking them, so if it skips them, say "walk the Integration protocol in updates/1.56.0-the-progress-card.md". Step 1 comes first. Steps 3 to 6 matter most: step 4 brings in the push guard and the new uninstall, and step 5 switches the guard on. Edited the UAE legal pack? The pack says how to bring your edits back from the update's backup. Pasted a key into a chat before this release? Cancel it at the provider and make a new one.
