EHF heatwaves have been replaced by the implementation of EHF heatwaves documented by Nairn and Fawcett (2015) and Nairn et al. (2018). Eight annual heatwave aspects are now calculated for EHF heatwaves:
- heatwave number (HWN): number of heatwaves.
- heatwave frequency (HWF): number of days contributing to heatwaves.
- heatwave duration (HWD): length of the longest heatwave.
- heatwave mean duration (HWMD): mean length of all heatwaves.
- heatwave peak severity (HWPS): highest heatwave severity measured across all heatwaves.
- heatwave peak intensity (HWPI): highest heatwave intensity measured across all heatwaves.
- heatwave load severity (HWLS): sum of heatwave severities across all heatwaves.
- heatwave load intensity (HWLI): sum of heatwave intensities across all heatwaves.
Note that severity, intensity and load are concepts taken from Nairn et al. (2018). The above heatwave aspects are documented in Appendix D of the user guide. Note that Tx90 and Tn90 heatwaves remain unchanged.
