ARCHive 1.2.1-beta4 - Seven-Day Beta
This release supersedes beta3. Download all four files below before testing.
What was corrected
- Explorer multi-file selections are retained even while the first-run beta notice is open.
- Inter-instance selection forwarding is restricted to the current Windows user.
- Archive integrity verification is mandatory before a final archive is published.
- Failed copy jobs remove their entire dated output whenever cleanup succeeds.
- HDD/SSD concurrency decisions use the Windows seek-penalty descriptor and the correct NVMe bus value.
- Extract context-menu actions accept one archive at a time.

ARCHive 1.2.0-beta3 (Superseded)
Superseded by 1.2.1-beta4
Do not use this beta3 release for new testing. Its GitHub download page contained only the installer even though the release notes promised four files, and later review identified startup-selection and storage-classification corrections.
Use the complete ARCHive 1.2.1-beta4 release, which provides the installer, Markdown instructions, plain-text instructions and disclosures, and editable questionnaire.
ARCHive 1.1.0-beta2
ARCHive 1.1.0-beta2
Version bump from 1.0.0-beta1 to 1.1.0-beta2 — addresses auditor feedback with P/Invoke bug fixes, cancel-vs-fail clarity, and expanded test coverage.
Bug Fixes
- DriveClassifier P/Invoke corrected — \RemovableMedia\ changed from \short\ to \yte\ to match Win32 \BOOLEAN. Bus-type constants corrected to match Windows \STORAGE_BUS_TYPE\ (SCSI=0x01, USB=0x07, SATA=0x0B, NVMe=0x0D). Removed unsafe \yte[] AdditionalParameters\ from \STORAGE_PROPERTY_QUERY.
- Double-buffer consistency — single-file copy loop now uses \wait readTask\ instead of .Result.
User Experience
- Cancel-vs-fail summary text hardened — all runner failure paths now explicitly state whether incomplete output was removed or preserved. Cancel messages clearly state the source was not modified. Extraction failures note that any files written before failure are preserved.
Testing (52 → 68 tests)
- Integration: many small files, cancel-after-partial-progress, cancel-vs-fail summary distinction, archive verify on/off
- Unit: DriveClassifier bus-type mapping via reflection

Safety
This is a non-production seven-day testing release. Use disposable test data. This beta must not be the only copy of important files.
ARCHive 1.0.0-beta1 — Seven-Day Beta
Seven-day public beta for Windows 11 x64.
Please read the included instructions and disclosures before installation. This build is not code-signed and may show an Unknown Publisher or SmartScreen warning.
The trial begins on first launch and is checked only at application startup. Active copy, archive, or extraction operations are not interrupted by expiry.
