v0.2.13 - 32:9 (5120x1440, beta)

Choose a tag to compare

What's new

32:9 super ultrawide: 5120x1440 (beta).

  • Choose it in the launcher (Graphics → Render resolution → 5120 × 1440 · 32:9) or in the game (Insert → Performance → Render resolution). The game restarts to apply it.
  • The camera keeps its height of view, so the wider picture shows more at the sides. The HUD and menus stay 16:9 in the middle of the screen.
  • It needs a graphics card with more than 8 GB of video memory, like 4K. On an 8 GB card the race runs out of memory while it loads.
  • It is beta: I checked the menus at 32:9, but my 8 GB card cannot load a race at this size. If you play at 5120x1440, please tell me how it looks in a race.

v0.2.12 - your music is louder by default

Choose a tag to compare

What's new

Your own music is much louder by default. With some songs it was hard to hear over the sound effects.

  • Before, a song's level counted its deep bass (below about 150 Hz). Many modern songs have most of their energy there, and laptop speakers barely play it, so those songs were turned down too much.
  • Now the level is measured without that deep bass, and the target is higher. A bass-heavy test song is about 3 times louder (+10 dB); other songs about 2 times (+6 dB).
  • Too loud now? Lower Music volume on the launcher's Music page or in the game (Insert → Music).

v0.2.11 - start-up hang fixed, FSR 3.1 anti-aliasing (experimental)

Choose a tag to compare

What's new

Fixed: the game sometimes stayed on a black screen at start (#43). Some starts stopped right after guest thread 'NEW THREAD' created in the log. Two of the game's threads raced at start-up, and on a fast PC the wrong one could win. A built-in fix (always on) makes them start in the right order. Here it went from 2 hangs in 7 starts to 12 good starts out of 12.

New, experimental: smoother edges with FSR 3.1 anti-aliasing (#49, thanks to d4g).

  • Launcher → Graphics → Anti-aliasing (experimental). It is off by default.
  • It uses the game's own motion vectors at your render resolution (no upscaling).
  • F10 switches it off and on in the game, so you can compare.
  • When it is on, the game's own multisampling is turned off. FSR does that job, and both together broke part of the picture.
  • DLAA (NVIDIA) needs NVIDIA's DLSS files, which are not included. FSR 3.1 works on every graphics card.

v0.2.10 - Unlimited FPS fixed, no God of War III leftovers

Choose a tag to compare

What's new

"Unlimited" frame rate now really goes above 60 FPS.

  • Before, Frame rate limit → Unlimited (the default) kept the game at 60 FPS. Only 100, 120 or 240 gave more. Now Unlimited goes up to 240 FPS, the same as the 240 limit.
  • With VSync on, the frame rate still stops at your monitor's refresh rate (for example 144 FPS on a 144 Hz screen). Turn VSync off for more.
  • Known issue above 60 FPS: the shield power-up can look wrong (#37). Set the limit to 60 if it bothers you.

No more God of War III leftovers. This port started from the God of War III PC port, and some of its options were still visible:

  • In-game menu (Insert): the God of War III cheats, orb multipliers, enemy health bar and mouse aiming are gone from the Game tab.
  • Launcher → Controls: the Rage of Sparta, grab and dodge keys, the joystick prompts and the L2 mouse aiming are gone. L3 and R3 have their own keys again.
  • Add to Steam now writes WIPEOUT / OMEGA COLLECTION on the Steam pictures.

v0.2.9 - your music: launcher page and in-game menu

Choose a tag to compare

What's new

Your own music, now with a launcher page and an in-game menu (#47).

  • Launcher → Music page: a short guide, your music folder (Browse… to pick any folder, or Open the default user\music), Play my music, Shuffle, Music volume, and the list of songs it finds.
  • In the game → Insert (or R3 + L2) → Music tab: see what is playing, pick a song from the list, go to the Previous or Next song, and switch shuffle, your music or the volume while you play. Works with the keyboard and the controller too.
  • Steady volume: each song is leveled, so loud and quiet songs sound alike. Your music no longer fades out when the game's own music fades (title screen, loading). Music volume 100% is about as loud as the game's own music.

MP3, OGG, FLAC, WAV and M4A files work; subfolders too. The game's sound effects stay.

v0.2.8 - your own music, 4K

Choose a tag to compare

What's new

  • Your own music (#47). Put MP3, OGG, FLAC, WAV or M4A files in user\music (launcher: Game page → Open the music folder). Subfolders count too. They play shuffled in menus and races, instead of the game's music. The sound effects stay. The volume follows the in-game music volume, and the song name shows in the lower right corner. Empty the folder to get the game's music back.
  • 4K render resolution (#48). 3840x2160 is now in the in-game Render resolution menu (Insert key, or R3 + L2). It needs a lot of video memory: a 2048 race ran at 4K on an 8 GB card here, and HD races need more.

WipEout PC v0.2.7

Choose a tag to compare

Changes since v0.2.6. The launcher's auto-updater picks this up on next start.

Game language follows your game version

  • The game only accepts the languages of its own region. The launcher now shows exactly those for the game folder you picked.
  • EU version (CUSA05670): English, French, Spanish, German, Italian, Dutch, Portuguese, Russian, Finnish, Swedish, Danish, Norwegian, Polish and Turkish (#38).
  • US version (CUSA07671): English, French, Spanish and Portuguese. Before, German, Italian, Russian and Japanese were in the list but the US game ignored them and stayed in English.

"Precise" GPU readbacks removed

  • On the Performance page, GPU readbacks → Precise froze the game on a black screen at start (#37). It is removed. If you had it on, the launcher now uses the default (Relaxed).

Package

  • Download: wipeout-windows.zip (74,820,017 bytes).

  • Install: unzip anywhere, run WipEout.exe, point it at your CUSA07671 or CUSA05670 folder, click PLAY.

WipEout Windows v0.2.6

Changes since v0.2.5. The launcher's auto-updater picks this up on next start.

Fewer out-of-memory crashes

  • Some crashes at the start or end of a race stopped with Failed allocating buffer with error ErrorOutOfDeviceMemory (seen on Intel Arc in #16, and on an 8 GB NVIDIA card here).
  • The cause: Windows gives each program a video memory "budget" that can be smaller than the free video memory (other programs use some; integrated GPUs share system memory). When an allocation did not fit in that budget, the game stopped.
  • Now the game asks for the memory over the budget and keeps going, the same as upstream shadPS4 does.
  • Very large render resolutions still need the video memory: 5120x2160 does not fit on an 8 GB card. Use 1440p or 3440x1440 there.

Package

  • Download: wipeout-windows.zip (74,819,734 bytes).

WipEout Omega Collection PC — v0.2.5

Choose a tag to compare

Changes since v0.2.4. The launcher's auto-updater picks this up on next start. Please update if you use 1440p or an ultrawide size.

Render resolution menu fixed

  • The in-game Render resolution list (Insert key) showed the wrong names in v0.2.1 to v0.2.4: WipEout's sizes appeared as "Native, 480p, 720p, 900p, 1440p" (#23).
  • Choosing "1440p" really chose 5120x2160. On GPUs with less video memory that can crash while a race loads. The ultrawide sizes also looked missing.
  • Now the list shows the real sizes: Native, 1440p, 2560x1080, 3440x1440 and 5120x2160. Editing gow3.ini by hand is no longer needed.
  • If the game crashes at start after you picked "1440p" before: open the launcher, start the game once, press Insert, and pick the size again (or set render_resolution=1440p in gow3.ini).

Package

  • Download: wipeout-windows.zip (74,820,040 bytes).

WipEout Omega Collection PC — v0.2.4

Choose a tag to compare

Changes since v0.2.3. The launcher's auto-updater picks this up on next start.

Wide screens: the HUD keeps its shape

  • HUD and menus stay 16:9 in the middle on render resolutions wider than 16:9: 2560x1080, 3440x1440 and 5120x2160 (#23, #29). Before, they were stretched across the whole screen. The race view still fills the whole width, so you still see more at the sides.
  • Pick the size in the in-game Render resolution menu (Insert key). 1920x1080 and 1440p look the same as before.
  • On wide screens the menu backgrounds also cover only the middle 16:9 part, so the sides of a menu screen look a little different from the middle.

Package

  • Download: wipeout-windows.zip (74,818,827 bytes).
  • SHA-256: e310e0323cedaa3472690b6521990366c48f04bb2eff45b1e459fdf6a7390327.
  • Install: unzip anywhere, run WipEout.exe, point it at your CUSA07671 or CUSA05670 folder, click PLAY.

Thanks to everyone on ultrawide screens who reported the stretched HUD.
