System Tag Definitions

Abdyy edited this page Mar 9, 2026 · 6 revisions

The following defines sets of variations for System tags. If certain definitions do not work, try alternative ones.

Some games that have MSBP files already have their definitions for the System group. In some cases though, those definitions do not line up what your game utilizes. If that is the case, the bottom definitions can be utilized instead.

Ensure the System group is defined at the top of the config before adding the tags.

group_map:
  0: 'System'

Ruby [0:0]

Most 3DS/Wii U/Switch games

  - name: Ruby
    group_id: 0
    tag_index: 0
description: 'Inserts RUBY text above the text.'
    parameters:
    - name: rt
description: 'The ruby character to insert.'
      datatype: string

Specific Switch/Wii U games

  - name: Ruby
    group_id: 0
    tag_index: 0
description: 'Inserts RUBY text above the text.'
    parameters:
    - name: bytespan
description: 'The amount of characters in bytes to render the RUBY text'
      datatype: uint16
    - name: rt
description: 'The ruby character to insert.'
      datatype: string

Font [0:1]

Most 3DS/Wii U/Switch games

  - name: Font
    group_id: 0
    tag_index: 1
description: 'Sets a new font style for the current text.'
    parameters:
    - name: face
      description: 'The font face name.'
      datatype: string

Specific Wii U/Switch games

  - name: Font
    group_id: 0
    tag_index: 1
description: 'Sets a new font style for the current text.'
    parameters:
    - name: face
      description: 'The font face index.'
      datatype: int16

Size [0:2]

Size tends to stay consistent between games.

  - name: Size
    group_id: 0
    tag_index: 2
description: 'Alters the size of the text.'
    parameters:
    - name: percent
description: 'The size as a percentage'
      datatype: uint16

Color [0:3]

In most cases, rgba parameters are utilized.

  - name: Color
    group_id: 0
    tag_index: 3
description: 'Sets the color of the text'
    parameters:
    - name: r
      description: 'The red value.'
      datatype: uint8
    - name: g
      description: 'The green value.'
      datatype: uint8
    - name: b
      description: 'The blue value.'
      datatype: uint8
    - name: a
      description: 'The alpha value.'
      datatype: uint8

In specific Wii U/Switch games (usually ones without MSBP definitions)

  - name: Color
    group_id: 0
    tag_index: 3
description: 'Sets the color of the text'
    parameters:
    - name: id
      description: 'The color ID.'
      datatype: int16

It can be easy to tell which definition to use, rgba encoded tags will always appear like [0:3 XX-XX-XX-XX] while ID tags will appear as [0:3 XX-XX].

PageBreak [0:4]

Pagebreak tends to stay consistent between games.

  - name: PageBreak
    group_id: 0
    tag_index: 4
description: 'Displays text on a new page in the same label.'
