HT27 is a badly named remake of Space Station 13, strongly inspired by Space Station 14 and, for some reason, heavily modded Minecraft.
It is still in the planning stages. Frankly, it is very likely to never get past the planning stages. But I've been thinking about it enough that I figure I might as well start writing my ideas down where other people could see and respond to them.
- HT27 will consist of a very small mod-friendly base game.
- Most content will be implemented as mods. Only a few mods will be implemented by the HT27 project, but I will hope that other people will be interested in creating mods for HT27.
- I will refer to mods implemented by the HT27 project as "core mods" for now; they may get a better name someday.
- Changing what content a server is running should usually be as simple as changing what mods are in the server's mod directory (this is where the Minecraft influence comes in).
- HT27 will focus on smaller servers. Ideally it will be very doable to run a server and a client on a regular gaming desktop for low-pop rounds with a few friends (...yeah, ok, this is also Minecraft influence).
- A side effect of this is that the sort of robust admin tools that are more essential for larger servers will likely not be an immediate priority.
I didn't want to name the project Space Station because there are enough projects named Space Station. I chose Hydroponics Tray because this is intended as a substrate for other people to grow content on. The 27 is because although it's primarily inspired by Space Station 14, it's impossible to separate 14's influence from 13, so I added them together.
I am definitely open to renaming the project, this isn't that great a name.
I am going to make issues here for the various planning items I've been thinking about; feedback on them is definitely welcome.
I have played on two different Space Station 14 servers and I also made a Minecraft mod pack once.
