The panel across the bottom of the app is a live log of what's happened recently: each stage of your last ROM build, any error that stopped it, and confirmations for other app actions like saving or importing a project.
- Drag the strip along its top edge to resize the pane taller or shorter.
- It scrolls independently of the rest of the app, so you can keep it open while working.
Every click of Update ROM (on the Emulator pane) clears this log and starts a fresh one, then narrates each stage as it runs:
- Bold "stage" lines mark major steps - generating bBasic code from your blocks, preprocessing, compiling to assembly, assembling the ROM, and a final "Build succeeded" line with the total build time.
- Plain lines fill in extra detail along the way - e.g. which bank layout is being tried, or a note that an optimization pass was skipped and why.
- If your project needs more ROM banks than fit in one attempt, you may see it retry with a different bank layout - this is normal, and the log lists each attempt.
Some actions outside the build pipeline also write a confirmation line here - for example, saving, exporting, or importing a project on the Project tab logs a line naming the file it saved to or loaded from.
If a build fails, the log adds a red Build failed (or Failed to generate bBasic code) line, and a full error message is shown below the log:
- A compiler error is annotated with the actual offending line of generated bBasic/assembly source, so you can see exactly what the compiler choked on, not just a bare line number.
- This error message persists (even across a next build attempt failing differently) until a build actually succeeds, so it doesn't disappear before you've had a chance to read it.
If you hit an error you can't make sense of, the exact wording here is the most useful thing to include when asking for help or filing a bug report.
