New in 0.4.0: Valheim

  • Valheim mod packs. The launcher can install Valheim packs (laid out for BepInEx) and launch the right game for each pack. (#19)
  • Install and join Valheim packs from the app. (#20)
  • Joining a server names the pack's own game, not always 7 Days to Die. (#24)

Also new since 0.2.0

0.3.0 was built but never published, so everything below reaches players in this release.

Signed packs, actually checked

  • Manifest signatures are verified on every install and update. The launcher resolves the pack's Ed25519 signing key from packrelay.cloud and checks the signature before anything touches disk. An unsigned, tampered, wrong-key or revoked-key manifest is refused, as is one served under the wrong pack's name. (#15)
  • Packs for games the launcher doesn't support are refused with a clear message, instead of landing in the wrong game's mods folder. (#15)
  • Each pack's signing key is remembered on first install. If a later version is signed by a different key, the launcher stops and shows you both keys before installing anything. That can be legitimate, when a pack's team adds a signer or its owner changes keys, so you can choose to trust the new key. It also means nobody can quietly re-sign a pack you already have. (#16, #21)
  • Settings → Trusted signing keys lists the keys trusted for each pack, and lets you forget one or all of them. (#23)

Fixes

  • The weekly cache sweep no longer empties your cache. It was only looking at the old profile layout, so every cached file looked unused and got deleted, and profile switches had to re-download. (#14)
  • Installing a second pack into a profile no longer mixes both packs' files in Mods: the launcher switches to vanilla first. (#12)

Joining servers

  • Joining a server now swaps Mods to that server's own pack, or to vanilla for a server with no pack, so leftovers from your last session can't stop you connecting. (#13)

Settings

  • Check for updates button and the current launcher version. (#11)

Under the hood

  • Profiles now record which game they belong to, groundwork for the multi-game support above. Existing profiles are read as 7 Days to Die ones, and nothing about 7 Days to Die profiles, packs or switching changes. The only on-disk difference is a "game": "7d2d" field added to a profile's meta.json the next time it's saved, which older launcher versions ignore. (#17)

Pre-built binaries for the PackRelay launcher.

Every binary attached to this release is built by
GitHub Actions directly from this repo's source. SHA-256
hashes appear on packrelay.cloud/download — verify
before running if you'd like.

Windows: when code-signing is configured the binary
is signed via Azure Trusted Signing (Microsoft attested
publisher). When it isn't, you may see a SmartScreen
prompt on first run — see
https://packrelay.cloud/docs/windows-first-run for
details on the warning and how to verify the binary.

macOS: the .dmg is signed + notarized. Open
normally. (Older v0.1.x builds that pre-date notarization
need right-click → Open the first time.)

See the README for what's in this release.
