New release: Numeric Keypad (visionect_joan.send_keypad)
A new full-screen numeric keypad for Joan 6. When a user enters a PIN, the value is sent as a JSON POST to a Home Assistant webhook (available in automations as trigger.json.pin).
Why it’s useful
- Quick PIN input for unlocking a dashboard, disarming an alarm, opening a gate, or confirming critical actions.
- Fully local, no cloud required.
- Works with any existing HA automations via a simple Webhook trigger.
How to use (quick start)
- Create an automation with a Webhook trigger (its
webhook_idmust match the service’saction_webhook_id). - Call the
visionect_joan.send_keypadservice with:device_id: your Joan devicetitle: e.g., “Enter PIN”action_webhook_id: e.g.,joan_pin(must match the automation)
Minimal examples
Automation (validate PIN and act):
alias: "Joan: PIN webhook"
mode: single
trigger:
- platform: webhook
webhook_id: joan_pin # must match action_webhook_id below
action:
- if:
- condition: template
value_template: "{{ trigger.json.pin == '1234' }}"
then:
- service: scene.turn_on
target:
entity_id: scene.hall_on
else:
- service: notify.persistent_notification
data:
message: "Wrong PIN"
Show the keypad on Joan:
service: visionect_joan.send_keypad
target:
device_id: YOUR_JOAN_DEVICE_ID
data:
title: "Enter PIN"
action_webhook_id: joan_pin # must match the automation’s webhook_id
Tips
- Matching IDs:
action_webhook_id(service) must equalwebhook_id(automation). - Best reliability when Visionect Server runs as a Home Assistant add‑on on the same host (the integration automatically uses the correct internal HA URL for webhooks).
- After a wrong PIN, you can show a brief message and re-open the keypad to allow another attempt.
- Security: webhooks don’t require tokens; prefer local network or protect with reverse proxy/ACL. Avoid logging plain PINs.
Changelog entry
- Added:
visionect_joan.send_keypad— full-screen numeric keypad with webhook POST (trigger.json.pin) for easy PIN-based flows.
