Gridsmith 1.2.0

Nine more approved photos bring the sample feed to 21 planned photos, with 6 in the Library and 3 fictional posted references. Existing saved layouts stay intact. Returning visitors can choose Add sample photos from the invitation or Help; only missing new photos are appended, with Undo/Redo and retry when saving fails.

All 27 sample photos remain 300 x 400 PNGs with metadata removed. Original sample IDs and the three fictional references remain unchanged. Actual posted photos and personal exports are excluded from this public release.

Local validation: 52 Chromium browser cases and 32 release canaries pass with no skips. Independent desktop and narrow-screen journeys verified real imported images, captions, dates, drafts, storage failures, durable history and downloaded backups. A separate reviewer reproduced and inspected all nine additional sample assets and checked the source/history boundary.

All required jobs passed for this exact commit in source CI. The Pages publication run repeats the full three-engine suite and release checks before deploying. All Pages jobs completed successfully. Independent desktop and 320 x 640 journeys passed on both the actual live demo and the published HTML download. Both artifacts were fetched anonymously and match the reviewed SHA-256 and bytes above. The actual downloaded file passed with all HTTP requests blocked and made zero HTTP requests. GitHub's published source archive contains exactly the 90 reviewed files, byte for byte.

Physical iPhone/Safari and Android checks remain in TODO. Windows WebKit is blocked by OS policy; Linux WebKit is required in CI.

Gridsmith v1.1.1

The demo invitation now scrolls with the feed and can be dismissed. It remembers that choice; Help keeps both the tour and sample grid import available. Closing Help with Escape preserves selected photos. The keyboard history check now waits for completed Undo/Redo and verifies the full saved order.

Open gridsmith-demo.html directly in a modern browser. It includes the same 18 approved 300 × 400 samples and three fictional posted references. Imported photos stay in your browser. The original collection, real posted photos and personal saved workspace are excluded from this release.

Release identity:

  • Source commit: 7802e03bf1688670ff48b2eee7c7fe920b651652.
  • Inventory SHA-256: 761a3b69de98694257131457a65bceca33c6cfa97a0b4f20c0b3f3fd27b8c1aa.
  • Offline and hosted HTML SHA-256: 9c3ed5286e44f8a69cebd17abbb6bce076c81cd87c2f4a6e4da22624ee7ffe76 — 5,347,579 bytes.
  • Exact-commit CI and Pages deployment.

Verification:

  • 49 browser cases in each of Chromium, Firefox and WebKit on Linux, with no skipped cases, plus 24 release canaries and complete source/history/build checks. Local Windows Chromium and Firefox also passed; the corrected keyboard callback was independently tested with delayed storage and a deliberately broken Undo.
  • Independent anonymous source archive comparison covers all 80 files. Separate privacy reviews covered source/history, approved images, screenshots, older release assets and recorded test artifacts. All 94 protected original files matched before and after the work.
  • Actual hosted desktop and narrow journeys passed all 17 tour steps, selected imports and cancellation, exact crop pixels, Original bytes, captions/drafts, backup restoration into empty storage, and ZIP order/dimensions. Final source and served HTML must match these tested app bytes; documentation-only changes do not substitute for exact-final workflow results.
  • The actual anonymous version 1.1.1 download matched the exact HTML hash and size above; its public tag resolves to the source commit above. The downloaded file passed a complete 390 × 844 offline journey with network access denied before navigation and reload: all 17 tour steps, actual imports and exact pixels, Original bytes, captions/drafts, restoration into verified-empty storage and inspected ZIP contents. No application errors or network requests were observed.

The first Pages attempt's asynchronous-test failure and its independent resolution are retained in the review record. Windows WebKit is blocked by OS policy before even a blank page loads; no security policy was changed. Linux engine coverage does not replace physical iPhone/Safari and Android checks. Device checks and nonfatal workflow-runtime maintenance remain in TODO.

Gridsmith 1.1.0

@Ademord Ademord released this 07 Sep 15:22

Gridsmith 1.1 improves collage imports, storage recovery and the sample demo.

  • Detect unequal tiles, large gutters and partial rows. Screenshot headers are removed before gutter analysis; imports remain reviewable and uncertain layouts can stay whole.
  • Restore backups and Undo/Redo without changing the visible image, caption or history until storage succeeds. Failed writes remain retryable.
  • Try the built-in grid directly or use the 17-step tour. Exports identify demo samples and fictional references and retain their actual dimensions.
  • Keep release checks, an explicit file inventory, independent review rules, screenshots, handoff and TODOs in the repository.

The release uses the same 18 approved, previously unposted 300 × 400 samples and three fictional abstract references. Actual posted photographs, personal saved workspaces, recordings and private development history are excluded.

Verification: 45 tests per Chromium, Firefox and WebKit engine, plus 24 release canaries. Local Windows checks and Linux CI on commit cff11dd passed. Twelve workers, including four whistleblowers, retained original failures and separate resolution evidence. See the review record.

Download gridsmith-demo.html and open it directly; its assets are embedded. Use Save layout before switching browser or address, then restore the backup through Add photos. See the README for source updates and browser setup.

GitHub Pages is still blocked on explicit public-visibility approval, and Done remains open. Physical iPhone/Safari and Android checks remain pending. Detection is heuristic; tested browser engines do not establish real-device behavior.

@Ademord Ademord released this 05 Sep 22:33

Gridsmith v1.0.0 lets you arrange a feed, inspect detected collage crops before importing, save drafts, and export ordered posts. The 17-step guide uses the real controls, supports manual takeover, and leaves imports and downloads for you to confirm.

The demo includes 18 approved unposted images and three abstract fictional posted references. Real posted photos, private captions, saved personal workspaces, credentials and original development history are excluded. The standalone download works offline; photos you import stay in your browser.

The attached gridsmith-demo.html is the exact checked-in standalone demo. Local Chromium checks: 23 passed, including copied-file offline guide, import persistence, backup restore and ZIP export. CI passed on the final release commit296624e, including the Linux build-freshness check and all23 Chromium tests. Independent review also opened the downloaded release HTML offline and verified imports, persistence, storage failure and zero HTTP requests. Pages remains pending; the Done milestone stays open until hosted verification passes.
