AddyDefender v0.2.0 – Expanded Exploit Protections & Packet Freeze Mitigation

AddyDefender v0.2.0

This update significantly expands AddyDefender's defensive coverage by adding new protections against desynchronization exploits, packet timing abuse, and vehicle-based duplication methods.

The goal of this release is to strengthen server-side validation and close several exploit windows commonly used by malicious clients.

New Protections

PacketFreezeGuard

Added detection and mitigation for packet freezing / burst behavior.

Some exploit clients intentionally delay packets to create short desync windows and then send a burst of interactions.
This module detects suspicious freeze-then-burst patterns and temporarily blocks risky inventory actions during recovery.

ChunkUnloadGuard

Added protection against container interaction during chunk unload transitions.

This prevents certain desync scenarios where players interact with inventories while chunks are unloading or changing state.

VehicleDupeGuard

Added safeguards for vehicle inventory interactions, including entities such as:

• donkeys
• llamas
• chest minecarts
• similar inventory-carrying entities

These protections reduce the risk of mount/dismount duplication exploits.

PlayerQuitCleanup

Added automatic cleanup for player tracking data when players disconnect.

This improves stability and prevents memory buildup in long-running servers.

• Expanded exploit surface coverage across container interaction systems
• Improved internal event handling and module separation
• Additional defensive checks around inventory transitions
• Improved logging for suspicious interaction patterns
• General code cleanup and modularization

Logging Improvements

Suspicious actions are now logged more consistently to: plugins/AddyDefender/actions.log

This allows server administrators to review potentially malicious behavior without automatically punishing players.

Important Notes

AddyDefender intentionally does not attempt to detect specific client mods.

Client-side identification is unreliable because malicious clients can hide or modify identifying information.
Instead, AddyDefender focuses on server-side behavior validation to reduce exploit opportunities.

• No configuration reset should be required.
• Existing configuration files will continue to function.
• New modules use safe defaults and integrate automatically.
