NeChrome 0.4.1 Preview

NeChrome is a lightweight native macOS browser using the system WebKit engine.

What changed

• Fixed New Tab and address/search interaction.
• Fixed independent state for multiple browser windows.
• Fixed the Core Data migration crash affecting stores created by earlier previews.
• Removed the built-in AI assistant, accounts, subscriptions, cloud sync, and related background services.
• Replaced the app identity and icon with NeChrome branding.
• Kept blank tabs lightweight until navigation actually needs a WKWebView.

Requirements

• Apple Silicon Mac
• macOS 14 or newer

Verification

• Release build succeeded from the tagged source.
• Essential tab, navigation, persistence, and window-isolation tests passed.
• codesign --verify --deep --strict passed.
• ZIP integrity passed.
• Executable and resource scans found no Eli, OpenAI, Anthropic, Gemini, ChatGPT, Candoa Cloud, or AccountService product strings.

Important preview warning

This ZIP is ad-hoc signed for local testing. It is not yet Developer ID signed or Apple notarized, so macOS may show a security warning. This release is intentionally marked as a prerelease until Developer ID signing, notarization, stapling, Gatekeeper assessment, and a clean-machine test pass.
