Scribe

Scribe — free, on-device dictation for macOS. Signed and notarized: open the DMG, drag Scribe to Applications, launch. Apple Silicon, macOS 13+.

What's new in beta.4

Accessibility — from our first blind tester's feedback:

  • VoiceOver-gentle dictation: when VoiceOver is running, Scribe no longer types text in per-utterance bursts (which made VoiceOver talk over itself). Your full transcript is inserted once at the end of the session, with a polite announcement.
  • Fixed status announcements that never actually reached assistive technology.

Language awareness:

  • New setup-wizard step tells you up front which 25 languages the speech model understands, and warns if your Mac's language (for example Arabic or Japanese) is not supported yet — instead of failing silently.

Polish:

  • The installer window is now properly branded.
  • Acknowledgements for the open-source components and models Scribe stands on are linked from the About window.
