  • Launcher: the pointer only lights the row it is over; the choice stays with the keyboard, so Enter right after opening takes the first result wherever the pointer was left.
  • Fixed: the blur behind a membrane was not declared again after a closing cell's glass left it.

  • Each wallpaper remembers the theme it was last worn with, with nothing to set: its palette, or matugen with the scheme it was read with (tonal spot, content, expressive…). Going back to a picture brings its theme back. Pictures a carousel runs past are not paired.
  • Fixed: switching back to matugen after changing wallpaper under a manual palette showed the previous wallpaper's colours.
  • Fixed: a wallpaper changed before the theme cell was ever opened (e.g. by a quick action) did not regenerate matugen's colours.

  • Custom palettes: Settings → Appearance lists every palette and makes your own (NEW starts from the colours on screen, matugen's included). Edit the four interface roles by hex, hue/saturation/value or niri's eyedropper; the desktop follows live. Kept as one JSON per palette in ~/.config/bioma/palettes/, shareable by copying the file; the greeter gets them too.
  • Settings: the SOUNDS category has a glyph of its own.

  • Quick actions: the ring now spreads out of the pill and retracts into it. Every capsule leaves the pill's edge and travels out to its place, growing as it goes; on closing it goes back in before the pill leaves.
  • Quick actions: the ring plays the cell open and close sounds (Settings → Sounds → cells).

Quick actions.

  • A ring of macros at the pointer. Mod+Alt+Space, or Mod+Alt and the middle button, brings it to where the pointer is, on whichever monitor that is. Near an edge it moves inward until it fits.
  • Up to eight round capsules on a circle round a pill, tied to it by threads. The one the pointer points at is lit and named; a press, 1–8, or the arrows and Enter run it. Escape or a press outside closes.
  • Steps run in order: launch an application, open a file, volume, brightness, a monitor on or off (one at a time, never the last one on), a layout preset, a favourite wallpaper, do not disturb, power profile, timer, wait, a shell command — and captured settings: Appearance and/or Sounds as they were at CAPTURE NOW, put back in one write. A step that cannot run stops the macro and a notification says why.
  • Settings → Actions: write them — name, icon from twelve drawn for them, steps edited in place. With none written, the ring offers the way there.
  • qs ipc call actions run <name> runs one from a key of its own; actions list, actions ring.
  • Fixes: icons drawn above 24 px are sharp (they were rasterised at 24 and stretched); a surface no longer reports the pointer where it last left it.

Sound effects.

  • Bioma has sounds of its own, synthesised for it (tools/sounds) and played through pw-play: nothing is loaded or held open between them.
  • Login: a chord when the desktop first appears after logging in. Restarting the shell does not play it again.
  • Notifications: two droplets when a notification appears. One whose sender brings its own sound (sound-file, sound-name) plays that instead, so the application stays recognisable; suppress-sound plays nothing.
  • Cells: a bubble rising when a cell opens, a fourth lower when it closes — only when it was opened on purpose.
  • Alerts: an alarm call when the processor, memory or graphics card passes 80%, or the battery falls under 20% on battery. Once, until the value has rested five minutes (sounds.alert_gap).
  • Settings → Sounds: one volume for the effects and a switch for each event. A sound switched on plays once.
  • qs ipc call sounds play <login|notification|open|close|alert> plays one.

Fixes from a bug-hunting pass over the scripts and services.

  • Login keyring: with Bioma's greeter, the login password now unlocks gnome-keyring (pam_gnome_keyring is added to /etc/pam.d/greetd by greeter-setup enable, under a # bioma: mark, and removed again by disable or uninstalling). Without it GNOME's own dialog asked for the password again after every login.
  • Mod+Alt+B no longer stops Bioma when Noctalia is not installed. Before, it left the session with no shell, and every later login too.
  • VPN import works on non-English desktops: nmcli's translated answer made a working import look refused.
  • Network: on a laptop with a dock, the connected wired port is the one shown.
  • Privacy: a camera plugged in after login is seen.
  • Workspaces: the wheel over another monitor's workspaces cell turns that monitor's workspaces.
  • Printers: with CUPS installed but not running, the shell no longer retries every five seconds forever.
  • Dictation: a recorder or paster that dies no longer leaves dictation stuck until a restart.
  • Calendar: a redirect can no longer carry the sign-in to another domain or to plain http.
  • Alarm on the hour rings; proxy changes close together are both applied; downloads folder created after login is watched; reveal in folder works with # or ? in the name; app icons no longer borrowed from short labels; launching an app whose Path= is gone works.

  • Settings → Session fits its panel on a machine with a battery: the power profile section no longer runs out of the capsule. The "If the lock fails" section is gone; it was not a setting.
  • If a scale or a font ever makes the page taller than the panel, it scrolls instead of overflowing.

  • Bioma now starts by itself at the first niri login after installing the package, and opens the setup. The package installs /etc/xdg/autostart/bioma.desktop (shown only in niri). Before this, nothing started it until bioma -d was run by hand.
  • Starting niri from a TTY instead of a login manager runs no autostart entries: run bioma -d once inside niri; the setup adds a spawn-at-startup line for the next logins.
  • shell start is safe to run twice at once (autostart and niri's line both fire at login): one shell starts.
  • To keep Bioma from starting: copy the entry to ~/.config/autostart/ and add Hidden=true.

  • Settings: one panel width and a taller panel; opens on Structure and comes back to the page left open last, on any screen; Structure presses work again when it opens first.
  • Settings pages laid out across the panel: long Appearance sliders, Structure slots across the page with a MONITOR title and a hairline under the presets, Monitors controls clear of the area.
  • Muted text only for secondary labels and unchosen options; buttons, titles and setting values are full text.
  • The pointer slot is no longer offered in Structure (the engine keeps the anchor).
  • Session: sleep after a time idle (Never by default, 15/30 min, 1/2 h).
