Lila Modeler 1.0.0-beta.26 (prerelease)
Lila Modeler 1.0.0-beta.26
Release notes for the third public beta of the desktop app. The web app on Pages and the
@lila-modeler/engine and @lila-modeler/mcp packages on npm move to the same version.
What is new since beta.16
beta.17 to beta.25 were interim versions (no installer published); this is what they added, by
topic. The exact per-version list is in the
changelog.
- Simulate and Results, redesigned
- Six Simulate steps (Arrivals, Times, Routes, Resources, Calendars, Run), and ▶ Simulate jumps
to the first problem that holds the run back. - A Simulate dock under the canvas with the scenario's KPIs, instead of being thrown into Results.
- Resources as a list and a sheet, a calendar manager with templates and «Used by», route splits
in percent, and each step's parameter painted under every element on the canvas. - Results on the map: heat map of waits, bottleneck marks and token replay. «Compare with…» lives
inside Results, and Results can detach to its own window.
- Six Simulate steps (Arrivals, Times, Routes, Resources, Calendars, Run), and ▶ Simulate jumps
- Modelling
- Import BPMN… from other tools; resize tasks and call activities.
- Lanes: add, move up and down, and delete from the canvas and from Properties.
- Settings laid out per the design (language and density as segmented controls, theme cards).
- Agents (MCP and CLI)
@lila-modeler/mcpis its own npm package:npx -y @lila-modeler/mcp@beta. Its tools cover
what a person does in the app: create a process from an outline, atomic process edits,
scenarios, runs, comparisons, annotations, RACI and exports, on a.liladirectly.- Read-only inventory (
get_project,get_scenario), compact results by default, progress and
cancel, and the guide and formats as MCP resources. See
docs/MCP.md. - The desktop app reloads the open project when an agent changes it on disk; a lock shared by the
app, the CLI and MCP keeps writes from colliding.
- Windows through the browser: the web app on Pages installs from Chrome or Edge as an app and
opens and saves.lilafiles. This is now the recommended way to use Lila on Windows. - Fixes, among others: the File and View menus open over the Simulate/Results bar (beta.26),
quitting no longer leaves temporary files, a file that fails to open leaves the open project as it
was, and Windows menus and dialogs speak the user's language.
Simulation results for the same model and scenario are unchanged.
Install on macOS (Apple Silicon)
Download Lila-Modeler-1.0.0-beta.26-mac-arm64.dmg, open it and drag the app to Applications. The
app is ad-hoc sealed but not notarized, so macOS blocks the first launch: double-click the app
once, then go to System Settings ▸ Privacy & Security and click Open Anyway next to the
message naming Lila Modeler, and confirm Open. Do not disable Gatekeeper. Full walkthrough:
desktop beta guide.
Windows (x64)
The recommended way is the web app: open https://alambritodito.github.io/lila-modeler/app/ in
Chrome or Edge and install it from the address bar.
Lila-Modeler-1.0.0-beta.26-win-x64.exe is also attached. It is not signed and has not been
tested on a real Windows machine; SmartScreen will show “Windows protected your PC” (click More
info, then Run anyway). The
Windows tester guide
explains what to try and how to report it.
Verify the download
Put the installer and SHA256SUMS in the same folder. On macOS:
shasum -a 256 -c --ignore-missing SHA256SUMSOn Windows, in PowerShell, compare the output with the .exe line in SHA256SUMS:
Get-FileHash .\Lila-Modeler-1.0.0-beta.26-win-x64.exe -Algorithm SHA256Known limitations
- macOS: not notarized (Open Anyway on first launch); Apple Silicon only, no Intel build.
- Windows: the
.exeis unsigned and untested on real hardware; use the web app instead. - Linux: CI builds an AppImage, but it is untested and not attached to this release.
Lila Modeler 1.0.0-beta.16 (prerelease)
Lila Modeler 1.0.0-beta.16
Release notes for the second public beta of the desktop app. It attaches a macOS installer and, for
the first time, a Windows installer that has not been tested on a real Windows machine yet. The
web app and the @lila-modeler/engine package on npm move to the same version.
What is new since beta.1
beta.2 to beta.15 were interim versions (no installer attached); this is everything they added, by
topic. The exact per-version list is in the
changelog.
- Beta 16: platform docs (what is tested and what is not, per platform), the Windows installer
attached to the release with a tester guide,
validation messages fully in one language, lanes in the process document grouped by id, and
fixes: the process document no longer mixes two processes, a pasted pool gets its own process,
Save As refuses a folder holding another project's processes, and the welcome hints show Ctrl
outside macOS. - Modelling and the diagram
- Several processes in one project, each a tab on the canvas (
+to add one), with call activity
navigation and a «Back to …» crumb. - Colours per element, align and distribute tools, and a full BPMN palette. Constructs the engine
does not simulate now warn while you model and only block Run. - Extended attributes per element type, filled in per element and shown in the process document.
- The diagram exports as SVG, PNG and PDF and prints from the File menu; BPMN ids are hidden behind
an «Advanced» setting; bpmn-js speaks Spanish.
- Several processes in one project, each a tab on the canvas (
- Simulation and results
- Calendars with Bizagi-style day presets and from–to ranges, monthly and annual recurrence and
holidays. - Scenario parameters from Excel/CSV: download a filled-in template, edit it, import it back with a
report of every change before anything is applied, and undo. - Bar charts under the Results and Compare tables; clearer messages when Run cannot start (empty
process, warm-up longer than the arrivals, entries for deleted elements) and a button to remove
orphan scenario entries.
- Calendars with Bizagi-style day presets and from–to ranges, monthly and annual recurrence and
- Deliverables
- The process document exports to Word (.docx) and to one printable HTML page, laid out the way
Bizagi's «Publish to Word» does. - An examples gallery on the welcome screen: the restaurant order, Bizagi's four simulation levels
and the M/M/1 and M/M/3 oracles.
- The process document exports to Word (.docx) and to one printable HTML page, laid out the way
- Desktop app
- Autosave with recovery after a crash, a File menu in the top bar, a detachable scenario window,
hideable and resizable panels, a command palette (Ctrl+K / ⌘K), one shortcut map with a Settings
section, and standard macOS keys (⌘W, ⌘Q, Help menu). - A notice on launch when a newer version is on GitHub. It only tells you: the app does not update
itself. - Lila Light and Lila Dark themes, and a theme that follows the system's light/dark setting.
- Autosave with recovery after a crash, a File menu in the top bar, a detachable scenario window,
- Engine and CLI: published on npm as
@lila-modeler/engine(under thebetatag), with
lila --versionand a CLI reference written for agents (docs/CLI.md).
Install on macOS (Apple Silicon)
Download Lila-Modeler-1.0.0-beta.16-mac-arm64.dmg, open it and drag the app to Applications. The
app is ad-hoc sealed but not notarized, so macOS blocks the first launch: double-click the app
once, then go to System Settings ▸ Privacy & Security and click Open Anyway next to the
message naming Lila Modeler, and confirm Open. On older macOS, Control-click the app ▸ Open
▸ Open works directly. Do not disable Gatekeeper. Full walkthrough:
desktop beta guide.
Install on Windows (x64) — help us test it
Download Lila-Modeler-1.0.0-beta.16-win-x64.exe and double-click it. The installer is not
signed and has not been tested on a real Windows machine yet, so expect rough edges. Windows
SmartScreen will show “Windows protected your PC”: click More info, then Run anyway.
If you can spare 30 minutes, the
Windows tester guide
walks you through installing, opening an example, simulating, exporting to Excel and Word, importing
from Excel and saving a .lila, and ends with a template to report what worked and what failed
(open an issue or send it to us).
Verify the download
Put the installer and SHA256SUMS in the same folder. On macOS:
shasum -a 256 -c --ignore-missing SHA256SUMS--ignore-missing skips the installer you did not download (SHA256SUMS lists both). On Windows,
open PowerShell in the folder with the file (File Explorer ▸ right-click ▸ Open in Terminal) and
compare the output of the following with the line for the .exe in SHA256SUMS; upper and lower
case do not matter:
Get-FileHash .\Lila-Modeler-1.0.0-beta.16-win-x64.exe -Algorithm SHA256Known limitations
- Windows: the installer is unsigned and untested on a real Windows machine. There is no
promise of a signed Windows build. - macOS: not notarized (Open Anyway on first launch); tested on macOS 27.0, Apple Silicon only. No
Intel build. - Linux: CI builds an AppImage, but it is untested and not attached to this release.
- Web: Chrome is the browser that was tested; Safari acceptance is pending (#379).
- No automatic updates: the desktop app tells you when a newer version is on GitHub and opens its
release page, but nothing is installed in place. - Projects with several processes cannot be opened by beta.14 or earlier; one-process projects still
save in the older layout.
Lila Modeler 1.0.0-beta.1 (prerelease)
Lila Modeler 1.0.0-beta.1 — first public beta
What it is: the browser app at https://alambritodito.github.io/lila-modeler/app/ (landing: https://alambritodito.github.io/lila-modeler/) and an unsigned macOS Apple Silicon (arm64) desktop build. This is a prerelease; Windows and Linux builds exist only as untested CI artifacts and are not offered here. No Intel Mac build.

Installing on macOS (unsigned beta)
- Download the DMG, open it and drag Lila Modeler to Applications (or any folder).
- The first launch is blocked ("Apple could not verify…"). Open System Settings ▸ Privacy & Security, scroll to Security, click Open Anyway next to "Lila Modeler was blocked", authenticate, then launch it again. On older macOS, Control-click ▸ Open ▸ Open also works. Do not disable Gatekeeper.
- Double-click a
.lila(whole project) or a.bpmn(diagram only). Keep a copy of your.lilabefore large edits.
Tested environment (Beta 1)
| Surface | Tested | Not tested |
|---|---|---|
| Web | macOS 27.0 (arm64), Chrome 154.0.8037.57 — 20/20 acceptance steps | Safari and other browsers, mobile editing |
| macOS | macOS 27.0 (26A428) Apple Silicon, Electron 44.2.0 — menu open/edit/save/close, launch and open-file routes (incl. accents, spaces, NFC/NFD), read-only failure, quarantined download up to Open Anyway | Intel Macs, other macOS versions, physical Finder double-click |
Source gates on the tagged tree: fresh npm ci, build, 2196 tests (1 skipped), root and desktop typecheck, 219 doc links, package consumer test, Pages build, project/replay/desktop E2Es, CI on Node 22 and 24 on the merged commit.
Statistical behaviour change (read before comparing with older runs)
Cross-replication duration statistics are now conditional on observation (#356): replications where a task, the process or an outcome had no observation no longer contribute a zero; every replications.kpis entry carries n (contributing replications), sd/ci95 need n ≥ 2, and W-REPLICACIONES-SIN-OBSERVACIONES discloses partial observation. Runs saved before this version keep their original meaning and are flagged in the results and comparison views.
Known limitations
- Unsigned, not notarized (see installation above).
- Saving a
.lilaopened through the launch/open-file path is fixed (#378). - Sharing means passing a
.lilafile around: no accounts, backend or real-time collaboration. - Some raw error messages reach the UI untranslated.
