AI Q&A inside the application, and answers that point at the controls they name. A computer that runs v2.0.3 runs v2.1.0 as it is: the presets, the MCP tools and the command line are unchanged, and the settings file only gains the panel's width (askWidth).

New

  • Ask AI: the documentation's AI Q&A beside the interface. The speech bubble with "AI" in the top bar, next to Documentation (now a book with "?"), opens a panel at the right edge of the window. The picture and the sidebar move over to make room, so the panel covers nothing. Type a question and the answer is written from the documentation site, with links to the pages it used, in the interface's language and theme. Esc, the button again or the panel's × closes it, and the conversation stays until the program closes. The panel's left edge is a drag line like the sidebar's, and its width is remembered. The answers are written by AI and can be wrong: the page an answer links to is the reference.
  • From an answer to the control. When an answer names a control or a section the way the interface writes it, the name gets a dotted underline. A click shows the place: the sidebar comes out, the section opens, the sidebar glides to the control and a ring lights up around it. Nothing is set or changed. Pointing at the name offers Show in the app or Open its page in the documentation. A control that Advanced hides is shown through the settings search, one that appears only in some states points at the control that decides it, and one of another source rings that source's button in the top bar.
  • When a question gets no answer, the panel says why, in the interface's language, with the way on: the service is unavailable or this month's allowance is used up, too many questions in a short time, no connection, or a conversation at its length limit. Open documentation is always one of the buttons.
  • Online, with a shared allowance. AI Q&A is provided by Mintlify and needs an internet connection. The project's monthly allowance is shared by everyone who uses the program, so AI Q&A can pause until the next month; the documentation is always there.
  • Nothing is sent before you ask. Nothing of the panel starts, not even the WebView2 control, before the first click on Ask AI. What you type goes to Mintlify; your pictures, videos, settings and library never leave the computer. log.txt records the HTTP status and the length of each answer, never the questions or the answers' text. The panel's cookies and storage are kept in %LOCALAPPDATA%\VRChatDLSS5Cam\webview2.
  • Without WebView2, and on Linux, Ask AI opens the documentation site's AI Q&A in the browser instead. Windows 11 and most Windows 10 computers already have the Microsoft Edge WebView2 Runtime.
  • The setup guide's last page introduces AI Q&A.
  • The third-party notices in Chinese, Japanese and Korean ship next to the program, and About → Third-party notices opens the one in the interface's language. The English file remains the binding text.

Improvements

  • Resizing the window is smooth. The interface keeps drawing at the display's rate while the window is resized; it used to fall back to a slow timer and stutter until the drag ended.
  • Sidebar labels that wrap line up with their controls. In a narrow sidebar, a label longer than its column used to leave a word alone under a slider that lined up with nothing. The row now grows as tall as its label, the control sits at the label's middle, and the label breaks into even lines (a bracketed part goes on a line of its own).
  • The setup guide and the Advanced tip name things as the interface shows them: files are saved into the Capture section's folder, and Preset keeps a set of values you like under a name.
  • The drag lines of the sidebar and the library no longer show a tooltip.
