Releases: AlecDusheck/carrier-explode

v2.3

Choose a tag to compare

@AlecDusheck AlecDusheck released this 12 Oct 20:52
  • Solarized theme: light, or a neutral dark, following your system's setting
  • The site's styles are split by concern and scoped to their components
  • Buttons and pickers take the theme's colours; readable dim text on selected rows
  • Larger picker rows on touch screens

v2.2

Choose a tag to compare

@AlecDusheck AlecDusheck released this 12 Oct 07:40
  • Server-side paged carrier and country lists (search in the URL as ?q, works without JavaScript)
  • Faster Compare and carrier pages
  • A fixed scan dialog for indexed settings
  • Touch-size and small-screen fixes
  • A broad cleanup of duplicated logic and types across the site, extractor and decoders.

carrier-explode v2.1.2

Choose a tag to compare

@AlecDusheck AlecDusheck released this 10 Oct 04:43

A clean-up release.

  • Icons are files: feature icons and the matrix backdrop are static SVGs, served like carrier logos; nothing is drawn in code any more.
  • One best guess: a single place guesses the visitor's phone, country and carrier, as the strings the pickers and lists show, and every page reads it. Compare opens its left side on that carrier's main bundle and phone.
  • Better carrier matching: the visitor's network name is matched to the carriers of their own country more accurately, checked against real network names.
  • Phones by country: a Galaxy opens on the variant sold in the visitor's country.
  • Home page: recent changes open on the visitor's platform (iOS when unknown); All is still one click away.
  • Compare: the carrier picker shows logos and flags.
  • The "from IP" hint is gone.

carrier-explode v2.1.1

Choose a tag to compare

@AlecDusheck AlecDusheck released this 10 Oct 00:35
  • New home page: what carrier-explode is, a News box, and an endless feed of recent carrier-settings changes in your country (every carrier version by the day it shipped, Apple OTA bundles included), filterable by platform. The feature matrix moves to /features, gains an Everything preset and a Markdown view at /features.md.
  • Carrier and country Overview: features shown as a tree beside the sections; each line opens Settings where it's read from.
  • Settings filter: a matching key shows everything under it, and deeper matches show the path down.
  • Modem configuration pages load a page of settings at a time, so very large configs no longer overwhelm phones.
  • Mobile: larger dropdowns and 44px touch targets.
  • Freshness: Pixel builds, Pixel OTAs and Apple carrier-bundle OTAs are checked hourly.
  • Performance: carrier bundles inflate only the files a page reads, and recursive schemas are built once. Sampled site CPU fell by more than half, and allocations dropped sharply.

carrier-explode v2.1

@AlecDusheck AlecDusheck released this 09 Oct 04:47
  • Feature matrix home page: pick the features you need (5G SA, VoNR, Wi-Fi Calling and more) and see which carriers give them on your phone. Presets: Everyday, Latest, Bundle swap.
  • Galaxy coverage worldwide: current Galaxy firmware across Europe, Korea, Canada, Latin America, China and Asia, not only the US.
  • Galaxy firmware: carrier files in EUC-KR and line-ending-damaged files decode; Samsung's firmware server refusals and rate limits are retried.
  • Modem decoders (MODEM_SCHEMA 8): MediaTek split arrays are kept whole; Galaxy configurations gain band combinations, GID1-conditional items and the networks they were built for; Shannon keeps replaced layers and more capability fields.
  • Pages read either modem schema while a re-index is in progress.
  • Phone pickers: one row per phone, a second picker for its variants.
  • Faster carrier lists; a new logo.
  • API: a request with no User-Agent or a bare HTTP-library default gets a 403 asking the client to identify itself.
  • Search engines: the API is marked noindex; the site stays indexable.

v2.0.1

Choose a tag to compare

@AlecDusheck AlecDusheck released this 08 Oct 00:44
  • APN passwords, CDMA SIP/AN passwords and Mobile IP shared secrets are kept and shown on every platform, in the API and in the dataset.
  • Carriers: a Galaxy pack listing several operators links to none of them, and a person's name for a source no longer names its whole carrier.
  • Carrier logos: a carrier's logo is the one its shown name names, or a logo label on the carrier; the table of Apple bundle words and its ownership rules are gone.
  • Modem names come from the index, not code: Apple's c4000 package reads "Apple C1 and C1X", MediaTek configurations are "SBP n" with operator names as labels, and Intel-dialect PRIs no longer name a chip.
  • Modem firmware pages list every configuration from D1 and read only the one chosen, and its base layers on request.
  • Labels: the labels Workflow also names Android carriers, Galaxy CSCs, unselected SBP ids, modem families and listed phones, each only from a search result that writes the name beside the code; production runs it weekly, up to 200 codes per kind.
  • Galaxy: every regional model of the scoped lines in each multi-CSC package Samsung serves, plus the A5x and A3x; Samsung's full model names, with the U and U1 models listed together.
  • Pixel: each phone reads a carrier source from its own newest build.
  • Apple: an image's phones without an override file read carrier.plist alone, and the phone lists, Changes and "current release" say so.
  • iOS: the line picker reads "iPhone (Modern)" and " (Legacy)"; version marks are found from the generator's files, not listed in code.
  • D1 reads cut: list pages, rare settings, a carrier's modem configurations and the builds list read far fewer rows, and the site and API cache them under the index's D1 bookmark.
  • Performance: no Smart Placement, nearest D1 replica, chips arrive with their entries, the sidebar preloads on tap, and an Apple bundle's facts are cached under its sha.
  • The zone's rate limit is 300 requests per IP in 10 seconds; cache hits, SVGs and /cdn-cgi/ don't count.
  • Workers tuning (feed crons, settle delay, retries and timeouts, container limits, concurrency, index batches, API page limits) is wrangler vars per environment.
  • README: the first line no longer mentions the API key and budget.
