Evangelion v2.1.0

Choose a tag to compare

@Aleph1-9012 Aleph1-9012 released this 19 Sep 14:42

This release reduces redraw work and installation time, refreshes SEELE's artwork and includes automatic recovery for missing managed settings.

Changes

  • Cropped Ayanami, Pen-Pen and SEELE timer masks to reduce redraw work while preserving their appearance and countdown behavior.
  • Reduced timer font sizes and removed unused transparent images.
  • Sped up catalog loading, installation and rollback checks with fewer font reads, batched file hashes and fewer file copies.
  • Updated SEELE's artwork, preview and wallpaper with the complete supplied design.
  • Added automatic recovery when only the managed GRUB_THEME, GRUB_FONT or GRUB_GFXMODE assignments are missing. Other conflicting edits still stop installation before files are changed.

All eight themes include 720p, 1080p and 1440p profiles. The shared full-screen console handoff continues to show real boot messages without added delay. Installation and switching require Bash, awk and standard Linux tools. Python, jq and a compiler are not required.

All 24 profiles passed validation and QEMU checks. The packaged installer passed installation, switching, rollback and uninstall checks with Python and jq absent from its command path.

Install or upgrade

Download and extract evangelion-2.1.0.tar.gz, open its Evangelion folder and run:

sudo ./install.sh

Select your theme and profile, then reboot after installation succeeds. Existing timeout and default entry settings are preserved. Apply a theme to update its active files; --no-apply only updates the installed command and catalog.

The matching .sha256 file verifies the download:

sha256sum -c evangelion-2.1.0.tar.gz.sha256

See the installation guide for compatibility and recovery, and boot messages for UKI and Secure Boot behavior.

Evangelion v2.0.0

@Aleph1-9012 Aleph1-9012 released this 15 Sep 16:45
  • Fixed Soryu's Right Arrow booting the current entry. Left and Right now move between cards, including submenus and scrolling menus. Enter boots the selected entry. Up/Down and editor/console cursor movement are preserved.

  • Added Ayanami, Soryu, Pen-Pen and SEELE, bringing the collection to eight themes.

  • Included 720p, 1080p and 1440p profiles and matching 3840×2160 wallpapers for every theme.

  • Added Soryu's horizontal cards, wrapped real entry titles and scrolling live numbers.

  • Made the new countdowns follow the actual GRUB timeout and disappear completely when cancelled.

  • Tied Ayanami and SEELE number badges to real entries, including short menus and submenus.

  • Kept the shared full-screen console handoff with real boot messages and no added delay.

  • Replaced the installer and boot helper's Python and jq dependencies with Bash and awk.

  • Preserved theme switching, centered padding, rollback, ownership checks and uninstall restoration.

Upgrade

From the new download, run sudo ./install.sh and select your theme and
profile. Applying a theme updates the shared boot helper as well as its
artwork. Existing timeout, default entry and rollback choices are preserved.
A catalog-only update with --no-apply leaves the active boot helper in place.

See installation and compatibility for graphics modes,
Soryu's native card module and recovery commands. See
boot messages for UKI and Secure Boot behavior.

Download

Download evangelion-2.0.0.tar.gz below, extract it, and run sudo ./install.sh from the extracted Evangelion directory. The matching .sha256 file verifies the archive. Python, jq and a compiler are not required.

This release was updated in place to include the Soryu arrow-key fix. Existing 2.0.0 users should download it again and reinstall Soryu to update the active GRUB module.

Validation

The original collection passed 24-profile validation, 93 unit and staged tests, and 102 QEMU cases. The Soryu fix passed 23 additional QEMU cases and upgrade, rollback, switching and uninstall checks for all three profiles. Left/Right navigation, scrolling, submenu handling, command/editor cursor movement and selected-entry booting were checked on GRUB 2.12 and 2.14 with x86-64 UEFI, and GRUB 2.14 with PC BIOS. The owner confirmed the corrected Soryu navigation works on their PC.
