Sidonia 1.1.0
Sidonia 1.1.0 adds Echelon as the fifth theme, improves the existing themes, and fixes GRUB compatibility across Arch, Debian and Fedora.
Changes since 1.0.0:
- Added T5 Echelon with live boot-entry labels, 720p, 1080p and 1440p layouts, and padding on larger displays.
- Rebuilt T1 Frame 704, optimized T1 through T4 assets, and reduced redraw areas across all five themes.
- Added a short selector glide and reduced menu redraws on supported GRUB 2.14 systems. Other GRUB versions use the standard renderer.
- Fixed installer validation for distributions that use variable-based theme and font references, and fixed T5 helper loading on Debian's GRUB 2.12.
- Added Fedora-style BLS support while preserving kernel options. A kernel-install hook refreshes T5 after kernel additions and removals; stale or unsupported entries use the native menu.
- Added a More entries card for menus with more than four entries. T5 shows the first three entries and keeps the full list available. Defaults outside those three open the full menu directly.
- Simplified the installer and repository layout. Installing any theme requires no Python or compiler.
T5 booted successfully in Arch, Debian and Fedora UEFI VMs at 1080p. Rollback and uninstall passed on all three, along with 73 isolated installer and compatibility checks.
To install this release, download a source archive below, extract it, and run sudo ./install.sh from the extracted directory. Use sudo sidonia to switch themes afterward.
Sidonia 1.0.0 — First Release
This is the first proper release of Sidonia.
It includes four themes—Frame 704, Gridline, Starfix, and System Bay—available in 720p, 1080p, and 1440p.
A simple installer handles the initial setup, and sudo sidonia opens the theme chooser whenever you want to switch designs.
That’s it: four boot themes, easy to install and easy to change.
