v1.5.0a22
Pre-release-
Devices menu overhauled: everything for one device in one place. The
Devices panel is now six per-device cards (GPS, Compass, Depth, Motor,
Battery + fusion calibration) — each with its source, connection (port +
baud as a dropdown with per-driver defaults), driver settings, debug view and
a live status chip right on the card ("● 0.4 s · 11 sats" / "no data").
Rarely-needed fields (data bits/parity/stop bits) sit behind an "Advanced
(8N1)…" disclosure; the NMEA bridge and phone-share sections only appear when
a source uses them. Saving got a sticky Save & restart bar that appears
only when something changed. The u-blox toolbox moved from its own Tools tab
into the GPS card ("Receiver setup…"), with a warning when the chip's UART
baud diverges from the connection baud. The guided setup becomes a prominent
front door until the boat is configured, the Compass card gets a single
Calibrate action that routes to the right flow, and touch targets across the
settings meet the 44-48 px floor. Visible controls in the default Devices
view: ~72 → 43; "is my GPS receiving?" is now zero taps. -
Steadier phone connection at anchor: the boat now keeps your phone's WiFi
awake. Phones aggressively nap their WiFi radio (worse in Low Power Mode),
which showed up as telemetry hiccups and brief "connection lost" moments in
the UI. The SD image now runs a small keep-alive service on the Pi that
notices each connected phone/tablet within ~1.5 s and streams gentle pings
(5/s) to it for as long as it stays on the boat's network -- a standard
trick for latency-sensitive AP setups, complementing the app's relaxed WS
keepalive. It only ever pings devices on the boat's own WiFi subnet, and a
device that leaves is dropped cleanly. BENCH-VERIFY: keep-awake effect vs.
real phone power-save timing.
