On-device AI explanations that help you decide what is safe to remove.

Requirements

• macOS 26.0+
• Apple Silicon (M1 or later)
• Apple Intelligence enabled in System Settings
• The feature toggle must be enabled in MacOSCleaner Settings

How It Works

Uses FoundationModels — Apple's local AI framework. All processing happens on-device. No data leaves your Mac.

When you click the sparkle icon (✨) next to any item, the app sends a brief prompt to the local language model:

• Cleanup items — explains what the file or cache is and whether it is safe to delete
• Disk Analyzer files — describes the file type and typical purpose
• Applications — explains what the app does, whether it is system or third-party
• Related files — explains why a file is associated with an app and the deletion risk
• Processes — describes the process and whether it is safe to terminate
• Startup Services — explains what the agent does and whether it is safe to disable

Language Support

Prompts are optimized in English for model reasoning. Responses are delivered in your selected UI language:

Status

The AI section in Settings shows the model status:

Status	Meaning
Ready	Model is available and loaded
Downloading	Model is being downloaded
Not Enabled	Apple Intelligence is off in System Settings
Unsupported Device	Not running on Apple Silicon

Privacy

The app sends only the file path, name, and size to the local model. No network request is made. The entire feature can be disabled in Settings.
