Afruz AFM Studio is a Python desktop application for analyzing atomic force microscopy (AFM) data. It brings calibrated topography, surface roughness, particle characterization, visualization, and batch processing into a unified scientific workspace.

Version 0.4.0 introduces the Orbit Workspace, featuring a space-inspired interface, animated controls, clear calibration indicators, and responsive background processing.

This release includes:

  • Nanosurf NID import with channel selection and lateral-calibration checks.
  • Surface preparation with Huber robust plane leveling, filtering, and raw-versus-processed comparison.
  • Surface characterization through roughness metrics, physically normalized power spectral density, and overlap-normalized autocorrelation.
  • Particle analysis with calibrated geometry, height, volume, and sampling-quality flags.
  • Reproducible reporting through CSV, Excel, JSON, and high-resolution figures, with algorithm versions and source-file fingerprints.
  • Synthetic demonstrations and a test suite covering numerical methods, reporting, and application workflows.

All 34 automated tests passed in the documented Windows environment. This source-only release includes synthetic previews; experimental scans and their derived images are excluded.

Several numerical methods have changed since v0.3.8, so results should be compared with their algorithm versions recorded. Reported lateral particle dimensions remain apparent AFM sizes; automated quality checks do not establish formal measurement uncertainty.
