FAQ

Q: Will MCArem be backported to older Minecraft versions?

A: Official development focuses on the newest versions. Support for older versions can be cancelled. Use an MCA build made for your exact Minecraft version, or build your own!

Q: When will the next update be released?

A: Updates are released when they are ready. Development builds and release information are posted through the normal MCArem project channels, including GitHub and my website.

Q: Can I suggest features or report bugs?

A: Yes. Use the MCArem CurseForge comments for suggestions and GitHub Issues for reproducible bugs.

Q: Does MCArem support custom villager professions?

A: MCArem can work with namespaced profession identifiers. Resource pack authors can also add profession-specific clothing. Some that does not support will have native support baked-in. See Custom Clothing for more details.

Q: Does MCArem work with mods that change villager trades?

A: Usually, but compatibility depends on how the other mod changes villagers. Mods that replace or heavily rewrite villagers are more likely to conflict with MCArem.

Q: Where is the config file?

A: MCArem configuration files are inside the config folder of your Minecraft installation or launcher profile. See the Config page for details.

Q: How do I marry another player?

A: Use /mca propose [player name]. The other player can accept with /mca accept [player name].

Q: How do I expand a village?

A: Build near the village and register the new building with a Blueprint.

Q: Can datapacks customize MCArem?

A: Yes. Several MCArem systems are data driven. The technical pages in this wiki document the formats that are intended for pack authors, builders, and general users.

Q: Do regular villagers still exist?

A: Only on existing worlds, but jump into Creative and use the vanilla villager spawn egg. It's possible to have those villagers and MCArem villagers at the same time.

Q: Polygamy?

A: MCArem does not provide polygamy directly. Use a third-party addon if you want that functionality. Native support coming soon with a toggle!

Compatibility

MCArem works alongside many other mods, but some integrations and conflicts need their own notes. See the Compatibility page for the built-in compatibility list and known incompatibilities.
