codebase while preserving the simplicity and broad compatibility that the
plugin was built around.

Highlights

  • One plugin JAR across legacy and modern servers
  • /god on and /god off
  • /god <player> and /god <player> on|off
  • /godmode info
  • /godmode list
  • /godmode reload
  • Permission-aware tab completion
  • Clickable and hoverable command help
  • Optional God mode persistence across server restarts
  • Optional heal and feed when enabling God mode
  • Configurable messages
  • Asynchronous update checking
  • Clickable update notifications
  • Modern bStats integration using the original GodMode project ID
  • Automatic GodMode 2.x configuration migration
  • Automatic backup of legacy configurations before migration

Fixes

  • Fixed hunger protection preventing players from eating while in God mode
  • Fixed unsafe console/player command handling
  • Fixed unsafe Bukkit API access from asynchronous update checks
  • Improved update version comparison
  • Improved reload and shutdown handling

Compatibility

GodMode 3.0 is designed to support Minecraft 1.7.10 through modern versions.

Tested successfully on:

  • 1.7.10
  • 1.8.8
  • 1.12.2
  • 1.16.5
  • 1.20.1
  • 1.21.11
  • 26.2
  • 26.3

The same GodMode 3.0 JAR was used for all tested versions.

Updating from GodMode 2.x

GodMode 3.0 automatically detects and migrates legacy 2.x configuration files.

Existing custom god-msg and ungod-msg values are preserved, including
multi-line messages.

Before migration, the old configuration is automatically backed up as:

config-v2-backup.yml

Requirements

GodMode itself is compiled as Java 8-compatible bytecode.

The Java version required to run the server still depends on the Minecraft
server version.
