explicit v1beta1

First beta release of explicit — a static analyzer for Python that flags constructs where the author's intent is ambiguous.

Checks included

  • Implicit truthiness in if/while/assert/filter(None, ...)
  • Boolean operators (and/or) as implicit control flow
  • Ternary expressions
  • Comprehensions (list/dict/set/generator)
  • Lambda expressions (opt-in via --include-extra)
  • Match guards (opt-in via --include-extra)
  • Single-letter variable names
  • Single-use variables and functions
  • dict.get() (opt-in via --include-extra)

Install

uv tool install explicit --from https://github.com/Andrew-Jayne/explicit/releases/download/v1beta1/explicit-1.0.0b1-py3-none-any.whl

Or run directly without installing:

uvx --from https://github.com/Andrew-Jayne/explicit/releases/download/v1beta1/explicit-1.0.0b1-py3-none-any.whl explicit <path>

Requires Python >= 3.14.
