@github-actions github-actions released this 15 Oct 11:16

Tested end to end on a real monitor. A full SDR and HDR calibration of an ASUS VG34VQL3A with a ColorMunki Display gave:

  • SDR: white ΔE 1.15, greys ΔE avg 0.97 / max 1.56, gamma 2.18
  • HDR: white x 0.3124 y 0.3304 (D65), PQ tracking 93–97 % of target from 5 nits up, peak 270 cd/m²

Screenshots are in the README and in docs/run.

Fixed (found by that run)

  • HDR (MHC2) profiles had a misplaced header field, so Windows ignored them.
  • SDR profiles were saved without their calibration curves (vcgt).
  • After installing a profile, Windows could reload the old curves; the app now loads the new ones again.
  • Long measurements no longer let the display go to sleep, and the app wakes a display that already did. If the sensor sees no light, the app says so.
  • If the target white luminance is out of reach, the app now says so before dispcal starts, instead of dispcal chasing it for hours.

New

  • What to do guides on the SDR and HDR pages.
  • A profile prompt with Show the profile file, Copy path and Open display settings. Windows applies a profile only after Set profile is pressed in Settings → Color management.
  • SDR profiles are also associated per device, the classic way calibrite PROFILER uses.
  • An optional sign-in loader that loads every display's calibration at sign-in, plus a warning when Windows' own Calibration Loader is switched off.
  • All new texts are translated into all 11 languages.

11 languages and tooltips everywhere

  • The interface is now available in English, Українська, 中文, हिन्दी, Español, العربية (right-to-left), Français, বাংলা, Português, Deutsch and Bahasa Indonesia. The first page has a language switch; by default the language follows Windows.
  • Every button, field, checkbox and menu item has a tooltip that explains what it does and which value to choose.
  • Esc cancels any measurement at once; the sensor is freed from background readers, and no Argyll process is left running after an exit or crash.
  • In the 3D gamut view the mouse wheel zooms without scrolling the page.
  • Translations live in src/i18n/*.json. python tools/extract_strings.py --check shows what is missing; corrections are welcome.

First public preview.

  • HDR calibration builds a native Windows MHC2 profile from colorimeter readings. It gives correct PQ tracking up to the real peak, D65 at every level and per-channel grey balance, and it compensates for the SDR curve Windows also applies in HDR.
  • SDR calibration runs through ArgyllCMS (dispcal + colprof), with an optional room-light adaptation.
  • Live meter takes about 1.5 s per reading. Auto OSD sets the monitor's RGB gains and brightness over DDC/CI, typically in about 15 s.
  • Verify & report shows ΔE2000, gamma, contrast, tables and charts.
  • Gamut shows coverage of sRGB, Adobe RGB, DCI-P3 and Rec.2020 as an xy / u′v′ diagram and a 3D Lab solid.
  • 3D LUT exports for madVR, Resolve / OBS (.cube), eeColor and ReShade.
  • Esc cancels any measurement at once and restores the calibration.

Requires Windows 11, ArgyllCMS and a colorimeter supported by it.
