Vagrant can run on a variety of providers, but it's easiest to set up with VirtualBox.

Feel free to use vagrant to explore other Vagrantfiles, spinning one up is as simple as entering the directory with the Vagrantfile and

vagrant init
vagrant up

Windows users will want something like putty to use as an SSH client.
