This option will be available in AnduinOS 2.0.3. However, disabling swap is risky and strongly discouraged. The mere presence of a swap partition does not make the system slower. A large swap partition only provides additional capacity; it does not reserve RAM, generate I/O, or reduce performance while it is unused. AnduinOS uses a deliberately tiered memory strategy:
This means AnduinOS does not immediately send active application data to the disk simply because a swap partition exists. The kernel can first compress less-active pages in RAM and reclaim cache. Disk swap is available when those mechanisms are no longer sufficient. Under memory pressure, moving cold pages out of physical RAM can actually improve responsiveness by preserving more RAM for the active working set. Without swap, the kernel has fewer recovery options. Memory allocation may fail earlier, the desktop can become unresponsive, and the out-of-memory killer may terminate browsers, games, virtual machines, containers, or applications containing unsaved work. Heavy swapping can indeed be slow, but it is usually a symptom of insufficient physical memory for the current workload—not a slowdown caused merely by enabling swap. Removing swap does not create more RAM; it removes one of the kernel's safety mechanisms. Disk swap is also important for reliable hibernation. Disabling it may make hibernation unavailable or leave the system without sufficient capacity to save its memory image. Advanced users who fully understand these consequences will be able to disable it in AnduinOS 2.0.3. Nevertheless, the default configuration is intentional and remains our strongly recommended setting, especially for systems expected to remain responsive and recoverable under extreme workloads. |

The advanced mode currently only supports exisitng disk with partitions and empty space. 2.0.3 will refactor this and support empty disks. Currently it's highly recommended to let the installer itself to format the entire disk as Btrfs. |
