Setup Your Dev Environment

Required Installations

• npm
• python3
• virtualenv

To set up a virtual environment
The first two parts should only be done once

1. Make sure you have virtualenv installed if not enter pip install virtualenv
2. Go to your the project's root folder and enter virtualenv -p {path to python3} env
   Ex: virtualenv -p /usr/local/bin/python3 env
3. Activate the virtualenv, enter source {path to env folder}/bin/activate
   Now you should see your environment name in paren prepended to your terminal input
4. To deactivate your virtualenv, enter deactivate

NOTE: Make sure you have activated your virtualenv before installing

To Install npm Dependencies

1. Run npm install in the fullstack_template/planit-ui directory.

To Install Python3 Dependencies

1. Run pip3 install -r requirements.txt in the fullstack_template/server directory.

Setting up the database

1. Go to the directory: fullstack_template/server
2. Run the command python db_create.py
3. Run the command python db_setup.py

After you setup your environment and your database, you can now run the server.

1. Go to the directory: fullstack_template/planit-ui
2. Run the command npm run start
3. Go to the directory: fullstack_template/server
4. Run the command python server.py
5. Open a browser and go to localhost:3000
