Release notes copied from RDI:

QoL, Bugfixes, and Logic Tweaks,

This week's update is mainly fixes and QoL stuff to (partially) implement some recent suggestions. The QoL stuff is all about boss text matching the assigned bosses. When a boss name occurs in-game we want it to match the actual boss rando assignment.

  • Azala will call out the correct boss name in the Reptite Lair.
  • The Dragon Tank replacement will be properly named in text. The manual dropped by the prison supervisor will also be updated. The manuals are mostly meant to be helpful to describe boss behavior. I'm open to suggestions because these are a bit rough!

There are a few optional logic tweaks that were asked for. The main complaint with recent seeds was too many seeds funneled into Magus Ocean Palace for flight.

  • force_early_flight = true/false is actually a flag that's been around for a while, but it wasn't advertised. When set to true and jets_of_time=true it forces the jets to be logically available before the blackbird dungeon is available.
  • magus_sequence_break_ocean_palace = true/false controls whether logic believes Magus being able to enter ocean palace is in logic or a sequence break. The default (false) is how we've been playing previously.
  • magus_logical_magus_castle = true/false controls whether logic believes Magus is required to get to the back half of Magus's castle. The default (false) is how we've been playing previously.
  • The starter reward proto_door can be given so that the door to the portal is unlocked without having to do factory.

There are a few notable bugfixes.

  • Many issues with the gauntlet should be fixed now. These include skipped phases and lack of rewards copying for some bosses.
  • The R-Series "beast toss" should never softlock now.
  • It was possible to assign midbosses to boss spots, and that was creating some problems. This is no longer allowed. If your old tomls break, remove flea plus and super slash from boss_pool.

Initial public release of the Chrono Trigger Rando-Dalton Imperial apworld implementation.

Rando-Dalton Imperial

Rando-Dalton Imperial is a highly customizable open world randomizer for the SNES version of Chrono Trigger. It focuses on retaining as much of the vanilla experience as possible but offers a wide array of options to allow the player to tailor their play experience however they want.

Installation instructions:

Install the apworld file into the custom_worlds folder in the Archipelago install folder. This can be done manually, or by double clicking the apworld file, or dragging int onto the launcher application.

Install the ctrando randomizer library. This is the attached ctrando.zip file. Extract it in the lib folder in the Archipelago install directory. You should end up with a folder structure like:

  • AP install dir
    • lib
      • ctrando
        • arguments
        • asm
        • ...etc

NOTE: This does not currently work with the Linux Appimage version of Archipelago, since it does not provide access to the lib directory to add the randomizer. When running from source, see the developer docs in the docs directory for setup instructions.

Yaml files

The Rando-Dalton Imperial website has been updated with the ability to generate yaml settings files for RDI multiworld. Head over to the online settings builder to get started.
