Highlights

  • Named agents can use saved, text-only skills and a gallery of 16 reviewed templates.
  • Agent file import/export now handles large topic notes safely, with skipped-file reporting and undoable imports.
  • Gemini CLI and Cursor ACP setup, experimental gated OpenCode, generic provider forms, and improved OpenRouter model discovery.
  • The desktop app can find, download, and verify newer release installers before opening them.
  • Codex agents can use the isolated Docker computer, and agents can be deleted from the sidebar or Agents panel.

Installer availability

The Windows x64 installer is attached. A macOS installer is not included in this prerelease: the macOS preview driver bundle is not part of the hosted checkout, and the project requires Developer ID signing and notarization before shipping that native bundle. See docs/NATIVE-DESKTOP.md in the source archive.

@inderpreet001 inderpreet001 released this 16 Oct 16:25

Open Dots v0.1.0 — First Pre-release (Windows + macOS)

The first desktop release of Open Dots, a local desktop interface for Claude Code.

Open Dots runs a bundled backend on your computer and uses your existing Claude Code CLI for conversations. Your chat history, settings and per-conversation workspaces are stored locally.

This is an experimental, unsigned Windows release.

macOS (Apple Silicon)

Open-Dots-0.1.0-arm64.dmg

  • Platform: macOS on Apple Silicon (M1 or later); Intel Macs are not built yet
  • SHA-256: 73c607f49e44ea1084de2c307d785108202fa66220800fdaafb3b155651814a4

Verify with shasum -a 256 Open-Dots-0.1.0-arm64.dmg.

The app is not signed or notarized, so macOS Gatekeeper will block the first launch. Drag Open Dots to Applications, then either right-click it, choose Open, and confirm, or run:

xattr -dr com.apple.quarantine "/Applications/Open Dots.app"

Data is stored in ~/Library/Application Support/Open Dots. The Claude Code CLI must be installed and signed in, as on Windows. The macOS build has had a startup smoke test only, with no full end-to-end run.

Windows

Download

Open-Dots-Setup-0.1.0.exe

  • Platform: Windows 10/11 (64-bit)
  • Version: 0.1.0
  • SHA-256: 3779dbf625bb71a5ce892f64e72cd0bac900ec2cd1f8a5a5876932aa132bf534

Verify the downloaded installer in PowerShell:

Get-FileHash .\Open-Dots-Setup-0.1.0.exe -Algorithm SHA256

Compare the resulting hash with the SHA-256 value above.

Requirements

Python and Node.js are not required. The installer includes the Open Dots backend.

Features

  • Desktop chat interface powered by your Claude Code CLI.
  • Tool execution approvals with Allow and Deny controls.
  • Stop button to interrupt a running conversation.
  • Persistent conversations that can be resumed after restarting.
  • Independent workspaces for individual conversations.
  • Configurable default workspace in Settings.
  • Local SQLite database for application data.
  • Database migrations with a pre-migration backup.

Workspace behavior: Existing conversations remain associated with their original workspace when you change the default workspace.

Installation

  1. Download Open-Dots-Setup-0.1.0.exe from the Assets section below.
  2. Run the installer and choose your installation directory.
  3. Launch Open Dots.
  4. Start a conversation using your authenticated Claude Code CLI.

The installer runs for the current Windows user and does not normally require administrator privileges.

Security notice: The installer is not digitally signed. Windows SmartScreen may display an unknown-publisher warning. Verify the download source and SHA-256 checksum before deciding whether to proceed.

Data and upgrades

Application data is stored in:

%APPDATA%\Open Dots

Uninstalling the application is designed to preserve your conversations and settings.

Migration from an earlier database schema has been tested successfully, including conversation history, Claude session continuity and workspace bindings.

A full installer-to-installer upgrade between different versions has not yet been tested. Back up important data before upgrading.

Known limitations

  • Windows 10/11 x64 only; tested on Windows 11.
  • No Linux build; macOS is Apple Silicon only.
  • No automatic updates.
  • Unsigned installer.
  • Default Electron application icon.
  • Early experimental release; bugs and incomplete functionality are possible.

Found a problem or have a suggestion? Please [open a GitHub Issue](https://github.com/Anil-matcha/open-dots/issues).

Include your Windows version, the steps to reproduce the issue and relevant error messages. Do not include credentials, authentication tokens or private conversation content.
