MiSTer Main v0.50 – Physical CD Support

Physical-disc performance has been improved across all supported systems, with the most significant improvements made to PlayStation and TurboGrafx-16 CD / PC Engine CD.

Changes

  • Improved physical-disc performance across all supported cores
  • Significantly improved PlayStation FMV playback and reduced micro-stuttering
  • Improved TurboGrafx-16 CD / PC Engine CD read-ahead and eliminated the initial FMV stutter during testing
  • Improved physical-drive latency and caching behavior
  • Physical discs load automatically through the included MGL files
  • PlayStation, Mega CD, TurboGrafx-16 CD / PC Engine CD, and Sega Saturn use their official stable cores
  • Philips CD-i continues to use the included experimental fork because the stable core does not work correctly with physical discs

PlayStation Drive Compatibility

During PlayStation testing, minor FMV hiccups were still present when using the SuperStation One dock. These hiccups did not occur with an ASUS external Blu-ray drive. PlayStation performance may therefore vary depending on the optical drive or interface.

Installation

Extract the ZIP file to the root of your MiSTer SD card.

Add the following to MiSTer.ini:
