MiSTer Main v2.2.0 - Physical Disc Support

This update adds automatic physical-disc detection and launching directly from the MiSTer menu.

When enabled, supported discs are detected automatically and the matching Physical Disc MGL is launched without requiring the user to select it manually.

Supported Cores

  • PlayStation
  • Mega CD
  • TurboGrafx-16 CD / PC Engine CD
  • Sega Saturn
  • Philips CD-i
  • Neo Geo CD
  • 3DO
  • SNES MSU-1
  • Mega Drive MD+

Changes

  • Added optional automatic detection and launching of supported physical discs from the MiSTer menu

Known Issues

  • The 3DO core itself is still unstable, so additional compatibility or stability issues may occur

Future Support

Jaguar CD support is currently being investigated, but no promises can be made at this time.

Notes

Physical CD support has been tested with the stable versions of each supported core. The 3DO core is currently the only exception, and the required unstable core file is included.

MD+ discs should contain the patched Mega Drive ROM, a matching CUE file, and the required WAV audio tracks.

If you experience issues with a physical disc, first verify that you are using the latest stable version of the relevant core.

If you experience stuttering on PlayStation, set Disc Speed to 1x (normal) in the core’s OSD menu.

Installation

Extract the ZIP file to the root of your MiSTer SD card.

The following entry is required at all times for Physical Disc support to work:

[CD-*]
main=MiSTer_Physical-CD

Automatic disc detection from the MiSTer menu is optional. To enable it, also add:

[menu]
main=MiSTer_Physical-CD

Without the optional [menu] entry, Physical Disc support will continue to work normally through the included MGL files.

An easy option to enable or disable automatic disc detection will be added to MiSTer Companion soon.
