Compress photos to a fraction of their size, straight from the Windows right-click menu. Select any number of photos in Explorer, right-click, and a dialog opens at your cursor.

Installing
- Unblock the ZIP before extracting — right-click it, Properties, tick Unblock, OK. Windows otherwise marks every extracted file as web-downloaded.
- Extract somewhere permanent. The right-click menu records where the app lives, so moving the folder afterwards breaks it.
- Run
Photokompressor.exe. It is not code-signed, so Windows will say the publisher is unknown: More info -> Run anyway. - Click the round i button and switch on Right-click menu. On Windows 11 the entry sits under Show more options.
Requires the .NET 8 Desktop Runtime (x64), which most machines already have.
What it does
- In: JPEG, PNG, WebP, HEIC/HEIF, BMP, TIFF, GIF — out: JPEG (mozjpeg), WebP or PNG
- High / Balanced / Low presets, and an optional fit-to-box resize (Lanczos3, never upscales)
- Keeps originals, or replaces them in place — replaced originals go to the Recycle Bin
- Works entirely offline. No network access of any kind, no telemetry
- EXIF and GPS are stripped from output; orientation is baked into the pixels
Typical phone photos shrink 70-90% at Balanced with no visible loss.

Compression is lossy by design and metadata is discarded on purpose. In replace mode the app refuses to run anywhere Windows would delete permanently rather than recycle — network shares, drives with no Recycle Bin, files over the bin's quota — but a Recycle Bin is not a backup. Keep copies of photos you cannot replace. Provided as is, without warranty, and used at your own risk; see LICENSE.
