Download, extract, run. No Python, no setup, no command line.
How to use it
- Download X4FactoryDesigner.zip below.
- Right-click it, Extract All. Keep the folder together.
- Double-click X4FactoryDesigner.exe. A console window opens (that is the log, leave it open) and the planner appears in your browser.
- First run only: press Rebuild game data and give it a minute or two.
- Pick a ship or a ware, set a rate, press Build & install. The plan appears in X4 under the station build menu's saved plans.
Two things to know
Close X4 before installing a plan. The game rewrites its construction plans when it exits and would throw away anything installed while it was running. The app checks and refuses rather than silently losing your plan. Your own hand-built plans are never touched, and the file is backed up with a timestamp before every install.
Windows may warn you that it "protected your PC", because the app is not code-signed. Click More info, then Run anyway. If you would rather not, all the source is in this repository and you can build it yourself.
Why the first-run step
No game data ships with this download. The planner starts empty on purpose.
Pressing Rebuild game data reads your own X4 installation, including whatever DLC and mods you have, which is the only way the recipes and module costs can be correct for you. Data copied from someone else's machine would be quietly wrong. It is remembered afterwards, and the app tells you when a game update means it needs doing again.
